Posted on 05/18/2009 3:20:02 AM PDT by Man50D
A controversial member of President Barack Obamas faith-based council said that part of the administrations role in promoting responsible fatherhood should include moving beyond Americas heteronormative view of fatherhood.
Harry Knox, appointed last month to the 25-member Presidents Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, has drawn fire for inflammatory comments about the Catholic Church and Pope Benedict XVI.
Knox talked about fatherhood and other issues the council would work on in a May 11 PBS interview, which aired two days before a May 13 letter signed by nearly two dozen prominent Catholics, including House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) was sent to the White House asking Obama to remove Knox from the council.
The letter was also signed by L. Brent Bozell III, president of the Media Research Center, the parent organization of CNSNews.com.
Responsible fatherhood offers us an immense opportunity to speak to a real need in the country, said Knox, director of the faith and religion program at the Human Rights Campaign, a homosexual rights group, during the PBS interview broadcast on its Religion & Ethics Newsweekly show.
Itll be challenging to do that for instance in ways that are not dismissive of the tremendous gifts of single mothers; not to sort of hold a heteronormative view of fatherhood up as the only model, said Knox.
The White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships is responsible for distributing federal money to religious non-profit and charitable organizations.
For instance, 25 percent of gay male couples in the country are raising children their own and other peoples, Knox, a member of the United Church of Christ and the Interdenominational Conference of Liberation Congregations and Ministries, told PBS.
So the challenge will be for all of us getting to know what fatherhood means for us, and how to talk about it in a way that is as inclusive as possible and empowering as possible, he said.
He added that mentoring programs for homosexual fathers should be reviewed by the council.
One of the things I am suggesting on the council is that they look at mentoring processes that gay dads have developed to help each other be good fathers around the country, Knox said.
On March 17, two weeks before his appointment to the advisory council, Knox published a statement on the Human Rights Campaign Web site in reaction to the popes statement on condoms and AIDS in Africa, saying, The Popes statement that condoms dont help control the spread of HIV, but rather condoms increase infection rates, is hurting people in the name of Jesus.
In response to a bishops instruction that a lesbian couple in Wyoming could not receive communion at the Catholic Mass, Knox, in an April 6, 2007 statement on the HRCs Web site wrote: In this holy Lenten season, it is immoral and insulting to Jesus to use the body and blood of Christ the reconciler as a weapon to silence free speech and demean the love of a committed, legally married couple.
On April 6, 2009, in an interview with CNSNews.com, Knox stood by his comments from the previous month in the San Francisco-based Bay Area Reporter when he said the pope is a discredited leader.
The Pope needs to start telling the truth about condom use, Knox said. We are eager to help him do that. Until he is willing to do that and able, hes doing a great deal more harm than good not just in Africa but around the world. It is endangering peoples lives.
The day the letter from the 22 Catholics was released, Knox told Newsmax he was not anti-Catholic.
"I love the Catholic Church and love my Catholic sisters and brothers very much, he said. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the Roman Catholic Church and for all the good that it does. I do think that we have a real disagreement about the role of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, both in the role of the church and in the role of public service."
If Harry Knox truly loved the Catholic Church, the first thing hed do is formally and publicly apologize to the Holy Father for his anti-Catholic bigotry, Bozell said.
Cleon Skousen wrote a book titled "The Naked Communist". Included in the book were Communist goals. These goals were read into the Congressional record in 1963 by Rep. A.S.Herlong of Florida. Below are some of the goals.
25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch."
The US is circling the bowl.
Another clueless idiot from hell, obviously.
Circling the toilet bowl.
... and if the "revolution" is ever accomplished, they'll find themselves imprisoned or worse. Why would it be otherwise? Look at any communist country. Have homosexuals been "celebrated" or destroyed in such places? Useful idiots will become expendable when their usefulness is at an end.
Isn't that special! This clown knows as much about “faith-based initiatives” as I know about nuclear physics. Where on earth does the magnificent one find such creatures? He is an insult to any one who cares about the spiritual health of our country.
Pope Benedict was a harsh critic of "Liberation Theology"...

Article: Obama, Black Liberation Theology, and Karl Marx
May 28, 2008
Just one nugget from the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, "Instruction on Certain Aspects of the Theology of Liberation': "...it would be illusory and dangerous to ignore the intimate bond which radically unites them (liberation theologies), and to accept elements of the marxist analysis without recognizing its connections with the (Marxist) ideology, or to enter into the practice of the class-struggle and of its marxist interpretation while failing to see the kind of totalitarian society to which this process slowly leads."
--Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, Prefect, now Pope Benedict XVI; written in 1984
Understanding that black liberation theology is Marxism dressed up to look like Christianity helps explain why there is no conflict between Cone's "Christianity" [i.e. 'reverend Wright's thing] and Farrakhan's "Nation of Islam." They are two prophets in the same philosophical (Marxist) pod, merely using different religions as backdrops for their black-power aims.
The Real Story Behind Rev. Wright's Controversial Black Liberation Theology Doctrine

[special Friday night edition--original airdate May 2, 2008]
(some key excerpts)
["(Jose) Diaz-Balart is the son of Rafael Diaz-Balart y Guitierrez (a former Cuban politician). He has three bothers, Rafael Diaz-Balart (a banker), Mario Diaz-Balart (a US Congressman) and Lincoln Diaz-Balart (also a US Congressman). His aunt, Mirta Diaz-Balart, was Fidel Castro's first wife."
JOSE DIAZ-BALART, TELEMUNDO NETWORK: "Liberation theology in Nicaragua in the mid-1980's was a pro-Sandinista, pro-Marxist, anti-U.S., anti-Catholic Church movement. That's it. No ifs, ands, or buts. His church apparently supported, in the mid-'80s in Nicaragua, groups that supported the Sandinista dictatorships and that were opposed to the Contras whose reason for being was calling for elections. That's all I know. I was there.
I saw the churches in Nicaragua that he spoke of, and the churches were churches that talked about the need for violent revolution and I remember clearly one of the major churches in Managua where the Jesus Christ on the altar was not Jesus Christ, he was a Sandinista soldier, and the priests talked about the corruption of the West, talked about the need for revolution everywhere, and talked about 'the evil empire' which was the United States of America."
REV. BOB SCHENCK, NATIONAL CLERGY COUNCIL: "it's based in Marxism. At the core of his [Wright's] theology is really an anti-Christian understanding of God, and as part of a long history of individuals who actually advocate using violence in overthrowing those they perceive to be oppressing them, even acts of murder have been defended by followers of liberation theology. That's very, very dangerous."
SCHENCK: "I was actually the only person escorted to Dr. Wright. He asked to see me, and I simply welcomed him to Washington, and then I said Dr. Wright, I want to bring you a warning: your embrace of Marxist liberation theology. It is contrary to the Gospel, and you need, sir, to abandon it. And at that he dropped the handshake and made it clear that he was not in the mood to dialogue on that point."

"Their founding document [the Weather Underground's] called for the establishment of a "white fighting force" to be allied with the "Black Liberation Movement" and other "anti-colonial" movements to achieve "the destruction of US imperialism and the achievement of a classless world: world communism."..."-Berger, Dan (2006). From the New York Times, August 24, 2003
"they [the Weather Underground] employed revolutionary jargon, advocated armed struggle and black liberation and began bombing buildings, taking responsibility for at least 20 attacks. Estimates of their number ranged at times from several dozen to several hundred."

Obama's Church: Gospel of Hate

In March of 2007, FOX News host Sean Hannity had engaged Obamas pastor in a heated interview about his Churchs teachings. For many viewers, the ensuing shouting match was their first exposure to "Black Liberation Theology"...
Like the pro-communist Liberation Theology that swept Central America in the 1980s and was repeatedly condemned by Pope John Paul II, Black Liberation Theology combines warmed-over 1960s vintage Marxism with carefully distorted biblical passages. However, in contrast to traditional Marxism, it emphasizes race rather than class. The Christian notion of "salvation" in the afterlife is superseded by "liberation" on earth, courtesy of the establishment of a socialist utopia.
Catholics for Marx [Liberation Theology]
By Fr. Robert Sirico
FrontPageMagazine.com | Thursday, June 03, 2004
In the days when the Superpowers were locked in a Cold War, Latin America seethed with revolution, and millions lived behind an iron curtain, a group of theologians concocted a novel idea within the history of Christianity. They proposed to combine the teachings of Jesus with the teachings of Marx as a way of justifying violent revolution to overthrow the economics of capitalism.
The Gospels were re-rendered not as doctrine impacting on the human soul but rather as windows into the historical dialectic of class struggle. These "liberation theologians" saw every biblical criticism of the rich as a mandate to expropriate the expropriating owners of capital, and every expression of compassion for the poor as a call for an uprising by the proletarian class of peasants and workers.
From "45 Communist Goals":
#27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion.
This is what Jesus foretold when he said we would be persecuted in his name.
"'The Black Book of Communism,'; a scholarly accounting of communisms crimes, counts about 94 million murdered by the supposed champions of the common man (20 million for the Soviets alone), and some say that number is too low."
Forgetting the Evils of Communism: The amnesia bites a little deeper
By Jonah Goldberg, August 2008:
Ever try to disapprove of promiscuity on FR? Thirty seconds to the "Taliban" accusations ...
When people choose irresponsibility and incontinence as their personal identity, it doesn't really matter which type it is. They're all pushing the same agenda.
But this particular clueless idiot is “speaking for us” ie, getting paid with our tax dollars.
It is reprehensible and disgusting.
[Aside: can we co-opt that other group’s name: “Not In Our Name”????]
The natural order of the animal kingdom is “heteronormative”, as a “homonormative” order would guarantee its extinction.
You’re right. The whole homosexual is merely a battering ram to strip away freedom of speech, religion and association while breaking down the nuclear family for the benefit of leftists.
We've had it in writing for nearly ninety years.
YEah, nudity was somewhat acceptable and tolerated in the former East Germany.
The aposty of the State cannot be enforced on the Church. We have a separation of Apostate and State.
Those who celebrate their sins are unrepentant.
If the legalization of homosexuality was strictly about the actions of “consenting adults in private”, when does a child get to consent to be brought up in an alternative lifestyle as an accessory to a same sex couple?
Says who? Where does this number come from? What constitutes a "gay male couple"?
Normalcy is insanity. Insanity is normal. Decency should be confined to the privacy of homes and churches and perversion should be enshrined in the public arena. Get with the hopenchange program! < / sarcasm >
As Billy Graham said once in the past, if we don't receive punishment like Soddom and Gomorrah, God's gonna have some 'splainin' to do.
Challenging “Heteronormative” fatherhood. Oh, someone wants to have sex with little boys and call it love. The APA had this in a study saying that children could benefit from this.
The ideal for children is a mother and a father, no matter what anyone says. It is not always possible, but it should be the ideal and the norm.
What is with this Liberal obsession with homosexuality? Shouldn’t somebody like Knox talk about how many failed marriages we have in this country? If the divorce rate is so high, than to me talking about homosexuality is like talking about “climate change” in a time of economic recession. First find a way to fix a divorce epidemic then get back to me about changing cultural means of society.
Sometimes I think that some people become homosexual because to them, any kind of self-expression is political and Homosexuality is an expression of political Liberalism.
perhaps the child should be asked first if they want a mommy and a daddy to raise them...
until they can say otherwise, a heteronormative family should be the norm.
Well, I was about to say, the fact that the president can legitimize this man's warped views by selecting him for any role of public service, much less a "faith-based" one, strikes me as a sign that we've gone around the bend.
So I guess, unfortunately, that I pretty much agree with you. Until this shit passes, we're in for a rough ride.
I wish Obama would have gotten a Faith based advisor like
“The Chruch Lady” from SNL at least it would be funny in a funny ha ha way
When did Cultural Marxism get defined as a faith?
Forgive me God, but I do despise these animals who rule and ruin our nation!
Not clueless, and not an idiot. Owned by, controlled by, possessed by, in thrall to, fully under the command of Satan.
True . . . though . . . I don’t think one is that controlled by satan without being blinded, deceived and clueless at significant levels.
