Editorial: You did it! Uh, so what now?
Sacramento Bee ^ | 5/20/9 | Editor

Good morning, California voters. Do you feel better, now that you've gotten that out of your system?

You wanted to show the state's politicians just how mad you are at them. And you did. Boy, did you ever.

Proposition 1A with its taxes and its spending limit? Too much of one and not enough of the other, you said (or was it the other way around), and voted it down. Never mind that the taxes go into efffect anyway. You showed 'em.

Proposition 1B? That was a tougher call.

Proposition 1C? No way. You like the lottery just like it is. And all they were going to do with that extra $5 billion was spend it.

Propositions 1D and 1E? Forget it. You had already voted to put money into preschool and mental health programs. You're not taking it out now.

And 1F? Heck, yeah! Let's not pay our legislators if they can't pass a budget on time. So what if it likely won't have any effect, or that this year they actually passed a budget months earlier than they needed to? That's not the point.

The point is that you're sick and tired of all this political mumbo-jumbo. So you showed those politicians who's in charge. You. You're now officially in charge – of a state that will be something like $25 billion in the hole for the fiscal year beginning July 1.

So, now that you've put those irksome politicians in their place, maybe it's time to think about this: Since you're in charge, exactly what do you intend

...That sounds a lot like work, you say? Sorry, no whining allowed. You asked for this job. Now you've got it, so get on it. Oh, and remember. The entire nation is watching to see how you do now that you're in charge.

Did the Sac Bee hire Marie Antionette to write this? “Let them Eat Cake!”

I love all the new comments directed at the Sac-O-Bee’s editors. There are even a couple of links to this thread.

I saw that. Typical socialist whitewash (until they get a lock on power, then out comes Stalin).

Time to fire up the “Wayback” machine. I’m sure that article and the reader comments can be found.

If you can find it with the comments, could you please put up the link? I could use a good smug grin.

LOL, one of the editors has posted a comment saying, essentially, that they never meant for the public to see what they really were saying, hahahahaha.

Great job, there! Did you send it to the Bee directly?

Nah.
But I'm sure they've seen it. It's no big secret.

And to satisfy full disclosure, I stole it from post #26 of this thread around 1 am today (I was too wired after the results of the election to feel sleepy):

Calif. Voters Reject Measures...

Allow me to add another to your list of ways to cut costs in CA:

Add MORE kids to classrooms and terminate number of ‘teachers.’ Found out yesterday that the elementary school I attended, when we had nearly 40 kids per class, now has no more than 25 kids per class.

What is that all about? Supposedly with all the ‘diversity’ they need smaller classes in order to teach/learn. Despite smaller classes, the schools aren’t turning out any brain trusts, that’s for sure.

For starters, boot out all the illegals and maybe CA can get back to normal sized classes and far fewer teachers and administrators.

I think on the voucher system the state will set some standards. I projected costs at 25 to a classroom. If a school can do 30 or 40 then they would reap the rewards and do what they want with the extra funds. I would think there would have to be a max for a standard class, say 40.

Typical MSM business model - insult the majority of your customers/potential customers with a haughty arrogance and then blame the internet for falling revenues.

Excremento Bee would never be so harsh on the legislators.

From the comments on the newly-revised editorial:
A note to our readers:
Many of these comments refer to an article that was posted in error. That article was a draft prepared for internal discussion among members of The Bee's editorial board. Such discussions are a routine part of our work, and frequently lead to editorials that are considerably different from writers' first drafts. That's what happened in this case.

After discussion, we decided that our initial editorial about the special election should take a different tack. The result was the editorial that now appears on sacbee.com/opinion.

That editorial is the only editorial about the special election that appeared in Wednesday's editions of The Bee.

This is hilarious!
Trying to find the original editorial led me to this --- at the Excremento Bee site itself!

Almost makes me feel sorry for them; as if we already didn't know how they view us common folk, they have to explain it to us:

Free advice, you pathetic losers.
When you dig yourself a hole and then panic ---- stop digging!

Does anyone else remember the State budget deadlock of 5-8 years ago, where the Democrappic leadership was in a skull session, thought their mics were all off and actually broadcast their plan to stall as long as possible to sabotage Republican attempts to reach a compromise?
The biggest yuk of the event was "The GOP will get the blame for it! Yuk yuk yuk!"
The Excremento Bee went right along with their plan in the next day's news, blaming the GOP for the deadlock.

Guess what.
The terminally stuck-on-stupid voters re-elected every one of those crooks to office!

No mercy or quarter here.
The collective consciousness of normal people has a memory infinitely better than the prostituted Main Stream Media.

New editorial up in it’s place. Comments are slamming Sac Bee for yanking the original editorial. It’s great. Someone even linked this thread in the comments for the original article.

What I said before-they didn’t mean for people to see what they really thought. He can spin it any way he wants, the fact is somebody came up with the original draft, so at least one person there felt that way.

I am kicking myself now; I must have been more tired than I thought when this thread popped up late Tuesday.
Usually, when a specially egregious editorial appears, I always go to the link and copy the entire offending editorial, but I failed to do so last night.

I would post it in its entirely, since "it never existed." So there are no copyright isuues, right?

Right?

...hello...?

From another thread:

>There are more people here in the public sector than private, and they are going to have to make huge cuts to those jobs and do something about the 800 pound gorilla in the state....illegal Mexicans. No one wants to do the non-PC thing and deal with extreme costs of people using public services yet not on the state tax rolls.<

Remember when California voters overwhelmingly screamed “NO!” to those costs at the ballot boxes on-was it Prop 87? The vote was yanked away from us by the courts & Davis, wasn’t it?

We wouldn’t even be having this conversation if the voice of the voters had prevailed.

Californians, believe it or not, didn’t vote for this madness, it was crammed down our throats! It’s not OUR fault!

" You're now officially in charge – of a state that will be something like $25 billion in the hole for the fiscal year beginning July 1."

The elected allocated (spent) $25 Billion (whatever) that they did not have. Same thing here in Boston (though less money involved) with Pols giving away other people's money.

It is like playing Monopoly except that our children will be compelled to foot the bill for all of this excess.

The nation's Public School Systems are doing their part to keep the children (who are required by Law to be there) as dumb as stumps.

There are going to be some serious fireworks down the road.

I hope that all of our FR children are ready, locked and loaded when the time comes.
