EXCLUSIVE: Four New York City men were arrested Wednesday in connection with an alleged plot to blow up New York City synagogues and other city locations, WNBC's Jonathan Dienst has learned.
Raids by the FBI-NYPD Joint Terrorist Task Force in the Bronx captured the suspected ringleader and three followers in what law enforcement sources are calling a homegrown terrorist plot.
Investigators stress the suspects' meetings had been infiltrated early on and there was "no chance" the alleged plot could succeed.
Investigators said several of the suspects are Muslims who allegedly talked about destroying two Jewish temples, including at least one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.
The men ordered and accepted delivery of materials they believed were bomb-making ingredients, authorities said. But investigators said they made sure the materials the suspects received were inert. Officials tell WNBC they moved in now so the alleged plot could not progress any further.
The four men are in custody and are expected to be arraigned Thursday in White Plains federal court on terrorism-related counts.

I know this will sound stupid, but I am genuinely surprised that “home-grown” terrorists, who appear to be African-American, went through with this now that Obama is president. I assumed Obama’s presidency would make no difference to foreign terrorists (and that his weak stance may even invite terrorism). But, since home-grown terrorists are recruited by preying on their disaffection, I would have really expected them to do an about-face now that “the man” is out of power.
Guess these guys didn’t get the memo that Bombs&stingers-R-Us.gov is a bogus operation, no matter the 1231 positive feedback rating on e-bay.
No doubt with the help of their Jewish defense attornies.
I wish I got anything but basic cable in my bedroom. Getting ready for work so agonizing having to listen to GMA. When they opened the story, what ever reporter was doing it said “Four Americans were arrested...blah blah blah”. Not “Four domestic Muslims”.
I wanted to throw up. I may have to put a radio in my room and listen to music from now on.

A funny use of the word “several”, which means “more than 2”.
There were only 4 men. If “several” were muslims, that means either 3 or 4 were muslims. My guess is they knew for a fact that 3 were muslims, but weren’t positive about the 4th. (That’s if they were simply trying to be accurate, although then they should have said 3 were confirmed muslims).
Or, they know all 4 are, and used “several” to suggest, without actually lying, that some were NOT muslim.
Or maybe they know that the 4th isn’t muslim, but I would be if that were the case they would have said so in the 1st sentence of the article.
Yes, we do want to work with Americans like that. The issue is whether they are truly Muslims, as distinct from Americans of Muslim descent.
I see from your home page that your viewpoint is "I keep my culture but love my country". If your primary allegiance is to your fellow Americans rather than to the Muslim Ummah, then orthodox Muslims would not consider you a real Muslim.
