(CNN) -- As the summer swim season starts Memorial Day weekend, water quality and health experts have a message for swimmers: Please don't pee in the pool.
Although urine in the water probably will not cause swimmers to go to the emergency room, it causes "more of a respiratory, ocular irritation: the red puffy eyes or a cough, an itchy throat," said Michele Hlavsa, an epidemiologist in the division of parasitic diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."A big health message is not to urinate or pee in the water."
And it happens far more frequently than water-lovers would like to think.
In a survey of 1,000 U.S. adults conducted in April and May, 17 percent admitted relieving themselves in a swimming pool. Even the Olympics' most decorated swimmer, Michael Phelps, confessed to urinating in the water to TV host Jimmy Kimmel. In a 2008 interview, Kimmel asked the 14-gold medal winner, "You pee in the pool, true?"
"Yeah," Phelps replied.

They must have the swine flu taken care of and now are on to more important things.
This is no big deal. You just buy those tablets that turn the water purple around anyone who pees in the pool, and they won’t do it anymore...:)
Pool Etiquette

Avoid swallowing pool water
Shower before swimming
Wash your hands after using toilet or changing diapers
Take children on bathroom breaks or check diapers often
Change diapers in bathroom and not at poolside

Or piss, piddle, wee wee, do number one, ...
Our tax $$$ pays for important instructions like those.
What a relief.
You really have to wonder what goes through these folk’s minds before they make announcements like this.
Is there a person in the nation that doesn’t know going in the pool isn’t a good idea?
What’s next?
Don’t wipe your eyes with used toilet tissue?
That was the funniest scene in a hilarious movie!
(end jocularity)
Look what the Democrats pissing in the well for 8 years has done. Now Obama cries that the pool he is swimming in stinks and while he grabs “swimmies” away from the other kids, he cries “no fair, rule of law!”
All kids under say, 8 - 10 -12 are going to do it no matter what.
It’s too much fun of a sensation not too, and somehow, you always wanna go after you enter the pool.
However if this is aimed at adults...then hoo, boy, it’s like those signs telling workers to wash their hands in the bathrooms of fast food joints.
Yeah, that’s a problem for the federal government.
From what I remember of public pool operations (what I was told when I was on the swim team in high school...) They chlorinate public pools so heavily that urine won’t stand a chance of causing any grief. (then there is the fact that you are diluting it 1 million to 1 or more...
Your eyes are going to be irritated by all the chlorine!
Not saying I endorse the practice, just what I recall.
DOODIEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
Love this too.....don’t know about anoyone else, but I would never consider swimming in apool where you could not see the drain. Would anyone???? Who funds this “advice”?
Here are tips to make sure the pool is clean:
Look at the pool to see whether it’s clean and clear, and the drain is visible.
So the other form of "relief" is A-OK?
You stole my thunder.
"Aawwww, weak, weak."
