If she does get confirmed, she will be the reliable meat head vote and nothing more. Souter = Sotomayor. I’m getting some interesting mental pictures of Roberts correcting her grammar in his dissents.

I've always wondered about this whole hispanic thing to begin with. I mean, most hispanics derive their heritage from Spainards (unless they have the indigenous blood in them like Inca Indians). Isn't that about as white, western European as you can get? If Geraldo Rivera's name was Joe Smith, would anyone think he was "Hispanic" and therefore a minority?

Hmmm... I read it, and as an opening salvo it’s pretty weak. No substantive Sotomayor opinions or analysis on ‘em, and the sources are all anonymous.

Maybe with the announcement today people can start digging deeper. I hope so. We need more than “she’s liberal” in order for it to get momentum outside of the Senate minority.

Krauthammer is on Fox right now telling another great American story - the firemen in New York - the reverse discrimination case that Sotomayor dismissed and is now before the Supreme Court. The one fireman spent $1,000 on books, studied 10-11 hours a day and had to hire a reader as he is dyslexic. This man scored at the top, but the results were thrown out and no one was promoted because no African Americans scored in the top tier on the test.

As usual, Krauthammer nails it.

We actually dodged a bullet here. Sotomayor may actually be an improvement over the bathroom trolling deviant that she is replacing.

I was particularly concerned that we might have got Kagan.

Sotomayor is older, diabetic and not nearly as bad ideologically as Kagan.

The GOP should just take this one. Kagan is Far Far worse.

The test I'd like to have administered is to report a summary of the Miller case. If a judge can't do basic case analysis, and this is an easy case, then they have no business being appointed to the bench. Oh, 9 of 9 sitting SCOTUS judges flunk this test.
