It’s about time someone shined the light on this Clinton fiasco. Regardless of your opinion on the Branch Davidians, those people could have been left alone to no harm,or picked up on their way to Wataburger on Sunday morning. BUT, the local coppers had new toys to play with and wanted to be sheriff/soldiers for some kicks.
I’ll never forget watching this stupid fiasco on the local news. “Stay off the roof” was all I could say as the guys climbed up only to be shot with high power rifles zipping through the thin plywood they were standing on.......
These types of people would be content living in their compounds and bunker miles from society and they would never bother anyone. Also remember Ruby Ridge was about 1 sawed off shotgun.
This will be a no-name movie that probably comes and goes quickly...with no one really paying $7 to watch Waco. Even for TV purposes...I see little value. If you pulled up the actual event...it was like a comic opera...with folks on both sides acting crazy. Imagine a Christian cult...whose biggest interest...is gun collecting. Imagine a group of federal guys, who are performing a job in a comical way and act like they’ve never done anything like this before.
It wasn't local cops. It was the BATFags that decided a paramilitary operation was necessary.
The drugs angle didn't even come up for a couple of days and that was just to get the FBI to come in and cover for their incompetence.
The attacks were by the ATF not the sheriffs department.
The Branch Dividians were warned by someone in the sheriffs department that the ATF were coming and they were prepared...
This was just the beginning of the feds coming after religious believers that were also armed.....
Far right idiots called it the Evil Empire, but it was the biggest FUBAR of amateurs and morons it was possible to congregate at a single goat f-—. Still pisses me off no end.
They could of picked those people up on there way to Chucky Chez.Way to go Ms. Reno
Today, the friendly neighborhood cop is almost nonexistent. I used to think it was because society had become so unfriendly that they were always on edge. But I run into more and more evidence that a gestapo attitude is bread into cops at the police academy level now.
I have a friend who just went through a year of training and after one month could not stand the job anymore, not because of dealing with the bad guys, but because too many cops got their rocks off by rousting people because the “looked like trouble”. It wasn't about right or wrong, it was a contest of who could get their name in the station log for the most arrests.
Also, this friend was a paramedic before he went to the police academy, so he knew how to drive and how to safely get through red lights (not much good is an ambulance that never makes it to the emergency). But in cop training, he was always being pressured to “floor it” through the intersections, no regard for civilians in the chase.
I still want to respect the law, but too much power in any ones hands can be dangerous, and too much power/testosterone with a ‘roust em down’ attitude means the cops are never your friends anymore. They want to be feared, not just be criminals, but by all. Something wrong there.
Well, Waco seems to be a natural conclusion to this mentality. But the mentality is there every day.
Occam's razor will cut to the quick on this one soon.
Who were those KIA's on the fed side?
The machine gun/child rape stories don't cover the need to burn the evidence!
Why was the compound destroyed? Why was it necessary to burn the evidence? That needs to be answered!
It wasn’t the local coppers, it was the Feds, BATF. They wanted to make a hit with the new, anti-gun, Democrat President Janet Reno, er Bill Clinton.
True in every sense, good post.
Guess the authorities wanted to play cowboy in Waco and send a message to any future Extremists.
You know, like tea party attendees.
It WAS NOT the local âcoppersâ that started it. It WAS the BATF. The most useless and overbloated Federal Agency in the goobermint. IN FACT the local Sheriff tried to get the ATF to let him talk Koresh into surrendering.
