Frank Rich: Who Is to Blame for the Next Attack?
NY Times ^ | May 30, 2009 | Frank Rich

Posted on 05/31/2009 6:41:53 AM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

The Beltway antics that greeted the great Cheney-Obama torture debate were an unsettling return to the post-9/11 dynamic that landed America in Iraq. Once again Cheney and his cohort were using lies and fear to try to gain political advantage — this time to rewrite history and escape accountability for the failed Bush presidency rather than to drum up a new war.

The harrowing truth remains unchanged from what it was before Cheney emerged from his bunker to set Washington atwitter. The Bush administration did not make us safer either before or after 9/11. Obama is not making us less safe. If there’s another terrorist attack, it will be because the mess the Bush administration ignored in Pakistan and Afghanistan spun beyond anyone’s control well before Americans could throw the bums out.

EVERYTHING Frank Rich writes in this area reads like he’s an ‘unofficial’ spin doctor/’strategist’ for the current Administration: ‘let’s let Frank do it.....he can think of new angles of spin we’re too busy to think of’.
Admittedly, this is a highly evolved, yet tortured bit of
a mega-Talking Point perspective designed to add a few more cannons to the Left proObama arsenal, in order to cut off at the pass any arguments that might develop if we’re attacked again. However, it is SO lame on the face of it, its only value lies in rhetoric that can be ‘tried on for size’ only now-—it will have to be discarded sheepishly when and if an actual attack occurs.

It's a matter of time before we get bombed. Who, where and how much are negotiable.

A house divided can't stand and you can't build a socialist utopia on the backs of the American taxpayers.

The Bush administration did not make us safer either before or after 9/11.

That is a lie.

Obama has been told what a dangerous place the world is. If he decides to take a "holiday from history" (Krauthammer) and not take national security seriously, then its his fault.

You can BET YOUR LAST RUSSIAN RUBLE that they already have a “group think” in place, coming up with excuses on whom to blame for whatever situation of terrorist attack comes. Hits here, hits some place overseas, attacks a military base or ship somewhere overseas, murders an American citizen in the Congo, you name it. They will have their list and set of excuses ready. Probably have rehearsed them before the cameras. THEY WILL NOT BE A FAULT. Troops, Bush, Americans, right winged thugs, you name it will be blamed. Obama will be faultless. The media cover-up will start immediately upon the incident(s).

The “TRUTH” here is that Frank Rich is more upset with Obama caving into Cheney than he is with Bush/Cheney.

A devoted liberal like Rich cannot fathom how Obama could basically keep Bush Admin policies with regard to terrorism. So Rich lashes out at Bush instead, because lashing out at Obama would just make conservatives even more correct.

Let Frank Rich and the rest of the liberals scream at Bush. The country has moved beyond Bush....except liberals.

General Frank Rich, writing from his summer bunker in the Hamptons, expounds on President Bush’s failures as CinC.

It is easily predictable that they will blame Bush for bad things that happen on Obama’s watch.

What is a bit scary is that they wheel out their “big gun” Frank Rich at this point to start the myth rolling. That would indicate that they are, or at least Rich is, nervous that something really bad is about to happen, and he wants to go on record first.

Does he have some intelligence on what it would be, or is he just panicking over what he sees in the media? The regional war exercises in Israel? The Korean nuke test and cancellation of the Armistice? Iran being only weeks if not days away from nukes?

The unlikely possibility that this pressitute could actually have good intelligence on something about to happen is the only thing about the article worth noting.

Your presumptuous lecture to Safrguns was actually more smarmy, smug, and obnoxious than the Rich piece. It’s what self-absorbed and effete libs do when they don’t have the facts beforehand. They jump to conclusions and make ASSumptions. They also frequently scream ‘’Hey! look at me! See how ‘intellectual’ I am! I need attention!’’ You try to have a bold ‘’in your face’’ style, which is then diminished by your plead for Safrgun’s validation and ridiculously cutesy emoticon. (I hope Safrguns tells you to eff off. lol!)

It is outrageous that Frank Rich of the NYT is still out there spewing liberal venum! He knows nothing else and wouldn’t recognize a real PATRIOT if he ran one down in his car. Dick Cheney is the only guy in the country with enough love of country to stand up and call the shots and correct the record libs have written. Rich should be hung out to dry along with his Obamanation slobbering brothers at the NYT. It is only a matter of time till they go belly up. The MSM manufacture the news,to report what they think we should read. Thats how libs, socialists, marxists work.

People like Frank Rich cannot envision Obama at fault for ANYTHING; he has been declared their savior, and that is that. it continues to boggle my mind at all that he continues to get away with, with barely a whisper of criticism.

What obama is doing to jeopardize this Nation's security is clear. The left knows we will get attacked, and they know why. obama’s massive across the board power grabs seem to imply that he would prefer we get attacked. Consolidation of power is much easier in times of crisis. I don't think for one minute he cares about losing a city or two to further his goals.

At about 2 minutes into Part 2 Ann cites Rich's own words to point out that Bush's ANTI TERRORISM policy was a success.

This is one of the best Coulter interviews IMO.

Frank Rich: Who Is to Blame for the Next Attack?

As long as Rich is one of the victims, I can see a silver lining in such a scenario.

Interesting that no one blames the Islamic fundamentalism for anything and Obama is preparing to go and bow to Muslims.

I agree absolutely.

I’d go further. It is conceivable that Rich could be blabbing inside information he has from the O administration about an attack they are either helping plan or are knowingly about to allow. The greater the crisis, the greater the power up for grabs, as Rahm Emanuel would say.

(’Rats are irrational when they see conspiracies like that, but this team is the Chicago Machine. They’ve always operated that way.)
