Congressman McCotter was interviewed this morning on FOX regarding the GM pre-programmed bankruptcy. I was interested that learn that GM car manufacturing will be moved to China, where impressive vehicles like Le Car! will be made and then shipped-back to the US for purchase by reluctant consumers. McCotter noted that not only is this bankruptcy a gift to the UAW, but also a victory for the EnviroNazis who will at last force Americans to buy the small, dangerous, lawnmowers-with-4- seats they have demanded for years.
When "Card Check" passes Congress, the UAW will be running an organization that mirrors China as far as democratic principles and voter rights.
No need to set up in China - they are creating "China" here!
That would be our young children and grandchildren's $20 billion. We'll only pay some interest.
Just a question here - business and econ are not my strong suites - If “le car” is being made in China, and our EPA is demanding tougher emission compliance, the market will grow for le car, causing China’s manufacturing to grow, while US manufacturing will slow down. It will be costly to refit facilities to make le car here, while China is already set up for it. Right? Won’t most mfg ultimately be done there, even if it’s not written into the plan today? Like I said, just asking, cause I really don’t know how to think about this.
I drive a Toyota made in Kentucky.
It would be very interesting to know what percentage of GM vehicles sold in the US will actually be produced here after this latest reorganization.
But this just one more step toward making Toyota and Honda the most American of auto companies.
I'll sure never own another GM or Chrysler product. Ford, Toyota or Honda.
Don’t tell me that you are surprised. Honestly I can’t blame them
Funny! Ford manufactures cars in the US. Hyundai and Honda and others built plants in the US and actually manufactures cars here. And they are actually sold here in the US.
Now, Chrysler and GM must now must manufacture over seas and import them. That might add to the cost to the consumer a little when they are sold here.
I wonder how many of us will be buying foreign made vehicles when we do have vehicle made here? And quite a few actually run better.
I do remember reading that the truck lines (Dodge, GMAC? and Ford) were doing well in the US. Wonder what will happen to Dodge and GMAC?
Simple. The purpose of the bailout was to destroy the capitalistic form of industry in America. . This simple minded sick nitwit is a communists and is following Venezuela's pattern.
There’ll be a new TV show...”Flip This Truck”
Let’s move them there and out of here and not let them back in.
So suddenly offshoring manufacturing is a problem? Go figure.
How about this:
China threatened O-Hole about the debt, refused to buy more unless they get something tangible out of it. Barry says ‘how about one of our car companies building cars in china?’
Then goes about and proceeds to take over said car company, and do exactly that.
I heard on the radio the other day that Prius, Honda Fit and GM's smallest cars are at an all time backlog on dealer lots.
One of them, I think it was GM's, had an 18 month supply sitting out there at dealers. Prius and Fit were on the order of 8 or 10 months as I remember. Chrysler's small cars were at an all time high to.
With several thousand dealers getting shut down, many of them with these little pieces of junk on their lots, you ought to be able to pick one up for a couple of thousand or less.....Obama brings you the true "People's Car".
With the government owning two automakers, we can rest assured the investment will be protected by legislation insuring that those are the only two purchase options available to consumers.
OK, it just makes it even less likely that I will ever buy their crap. I guess GM will probably have to pay UAW “workers” for not working at all now....
“
This is outrageous that they are going to move manufacturing to China. What then, was the purpose of the bailout? I mistakenly thought that they wanted to try to save these companies and the American-based jobs that were attached to these companies. Whats the point of subsidizing the companies for them to do more manufacturing overseas? I thought Obama was against companies moving overseas? What the heck????????I guess I dont understand the nuances of the Obama policies.”
Oh, why not! After all, many ‘good republicans’ voted for Most favored nation trade status for China, even Ron Paul. This probably won’t be the last American business we ship off to them.
And the billions of bail out money!!! BYE!
The Tab is 50 Million and counting....thanks Kapitalist, we have all the rope we need, Regards, Internationalist Commies XXOOXXOO
You’re absolutely correct.
We have lost control of our soveriegnty due to the debt. The ChiComs can call the shots now. No trade restrictions on them by the US.
China made cars will be a huge factor in our auto market in the next 10 yrs.
