Kansas Abortionist George Tiller was shot today as he was going to Church.

What about the guy who shot him? I'll bet dollars to donuts that he'll have claimed to have found Christ. I wouldn't dare judge either's claim to knowing Christ.
I do know this...people who know Christ sin every day.
It will be used to discredit the prolife cause and will be held up as proof that prolifers=terrorists.
Yes, upthread someone said Tiller’s previous church, which was LCMS, excommunicated him.
Strange that he felt a need to join another Lutheran Church, however liberal.
But then Wichita had another infamous killer, Dennis Rader, who was a faithful member of a Lutheran congregation.
My condolances and I’m sorry for the self-righteousness of some of our peers here.
But that's it.
“With the number of Freepers taking the high road on this thread, by now somebody must be suffering from hypoxia.”
ROFL!
There is no doubt of this. That's a big part of why this is bad. This is a dark day for the pro-life movement.
“We need to change our society, not vigilante justice on a Sunday morning...this guy needed the electric chair, not a vigilante’s bullet.”
Justice was subverted a long time ago.
“Unsupported vigilantism sets back the pro-life message and movement.”
Does it really matter? its not like the MSM is suddenly going to decide to support abortion because of this. They already think every pro-life person is a terrorist.
I think I may know you, I’m here in Kechi. Believe me I agree with everything you are trying to point out here. When I heard the news around noon, I was not surprised in the least.
But I’m terribly saddened because now we’re about to head into another national discussion we won’t win or persuade anyone. Maybe I’m just too jaded with cynicism to believe any other outcome. Our nation is dripping in blood and we who are on the right side of the life debate can’t even agree with each other about anything. Our nation as a whole doesn’t even agree anymore about the most basic foundation of human morality.
Chaos is here, chaos is coming and, frankly it’s an awesome thing to behold while you’re feeling absolutely helpless to do anything. Only God can save us, but I don’t feel his presence anymore, nor believe His protective hand is on our nation anymore. We’ve turned our backs and now the retribution is at hand.
Yawn...
Yeah, I saw the movie (in 1941 too) and have always wondered “what if?”
I also remember a “60 Minutes” story about police snipers that opened with an off-camera voice saying “there are people who need to be shot.”
If we had known in 1939 what we know now, anyone who had ‘offed’ Hitler would be a hero. For that matter, many of our Revolutionary War heros are still considered villians in Britain. Future history is a very difficult subject and one that no one can really know. Perhaps this man who shot Tiller will be hailed as a hero in the future. Right now though, he’s in deep doo-doo.
Pro-aborts will use it against the pro-life cause. if you are saying it will not turn a pro-lifer into a pro-abort, i agree with you. But there is no way this is good for the pro-life cause, even with the world being rid of the abortionist, it can potentially set back the pro-life cause.
Where is that HIDEOUS PHELPS FAMILY from??
I believe that church was ELCA as well and he was an elder, not a Pastor.
But, my rememberer isn’t as good as it used to be!
sorry...not with you on this one...
I have no sympathy for his shooting..zero
“It will be used to discredit the prolife cause and will be held up as proof that prolifers=terrorists”
Sounds like a hate crime if they do.
Oh please. The "god told me to..." defense will still get you the chair.

They can and they will.
During the campaign, Obama promised to sign the Freedom of Choice Act as his first official act as president. But no one introduced that bill in Congress. I wondered why -- the Democrats certainly had the votes needed to pass it. What I didn't see at the time was that the Democrats lacked the political capital and national sense of outrage and purpose that would permit the bill to pass with minimal opposition.
Now they will have that political capital.
Regardless, it will be painted in the most “expedient” light.
1. In principle: Because vigilante "justice" undermines the rule of law, even if the rulers are themselves acting unjustly. In some rare instances tyrannicide is justifiable but only as a last resort and when carried out not by any old Joe or Sally but by those who have at least some form of legitimate authority. When we start praising those who take the law into their own hands we start down the road to anarchy. Recall Thomas More's speech in A Man for All Seasons to his future son-in-law, Will Roper, about Roper being willing to cut down all the laws in England to go after More's servant who might have been informing on More--Roper said More would give the Devil the benefit of Law and More said, yes, indeed I would because the law is like trees standing as a windbreak against the gales of evil and if you chop down all the laws/trees you have nothing to appeal to when the wind turns on you.
2. In practice: Because it will turn a murderer into a martyr and obscure Tiller's own crimes; the cause of truth will be set back.

They DO NOT want to draw too much attention to this mass, serial murderer.
I hope they do.
But, their too smart for that.
“However, bush2 failed miserably with his “friendly tone”
Yes, that was an idiotic notion from the very first.
“and I’m beginning to think we MUST bring a gun to a gun fight if we have any chance to win this battle against satan and his minions.”
There is a difference between a gun fight and a murder.

Your point is? Who cares what the baby killers think.
Ping for later
Odd...
The last time I saw a member threaten another member with "legal action" the threatener was threatened with expulsion by the mod.

HERE IS THE BABY KILLING MACHINE KNOWN AS PLANNED PARENTHOOD IN RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA.
A very active pro-life friend of mine named Vanessa attends St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Riverside, CA. Across the street is the abomination known as Planned Parenthood. Vanessa has now personally helped save about a dozen babies with her activism and talking to women going in for an abortion.
Several months ago, a woman let Vanessa put her hands on her tummy and pray for her. The woman joined the pro-life group for breakfast and was promised the support she would need. Her boyfriend is in prison and will be out soon. He wanted the baby.
Tomorrow is a baby shower for one of the babies whose life was saved from the butchers. God bless you and your fellow activists, Vanessa.
The group is going to have 40 days of prayer in front of the building of death, 24 hours a day. They would love it if it could ultimately shut down the place.

How many of you cheer every time a report comes up that Osama bin Laden has been blown up in some cave in Afghanistan? How many of you say that we need to "knock off" (fill in the blank) before they get a chance to nuke us?
Abortionists kill, and have killed, many times more people than ObL and his minions have ever dreamed of. Does an "investigative action into manmade disasters" make it that much more "moral" to kill someone?
Maybe it's time for another "shot heard around the world".
I agree that it could indeed have been a hit-job to eliminate evidence against Sebelius. But if that’s the case, then the assassin will just never quite be found and that will be oh so convenient for the pro-aborts because they will have eliminated a threat of exposure of Tiller/Sebelius’s nefarious business while at the same time, in the eyes of the public, pro-lifers will be blamed for it and no one will be able to prove the contrary.
One way or another, even if it was done by a pro-abort, WE are going to be blamed for it.
Tiller didnt qualify.
I think you misunderstood my post. I'm anticipating the Administration/Media response to this murder. Please read the other responses to my post. I'm somewhat encouraged by them.
Many more will die because of it. Tiller was not abortion but his death will be a boon for abortion.
FWIW:
Exodus 21:22 If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman's husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
(23) But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life,
Unfortunately we don't have justices that recognize unborn babies as life. If this is related to his performing abortions would it be any different than killing Hitler during the holocaust?
If so how?
The left never apologizes for the nuts on the left.
The right should not apologize for the nuts on the right.
Did the Unabomber hurt Al Gore?
Did Al Gore ever apologize for the Unabomber?
Attorney: Tiller Was Serving as Usher When He Was Shot ...Attorney Dan Monnat said Tiller, one of the nation’s most visible and strident advocates for abortion rights, was shot as he served as an usher during morning services at Reformation Lutheran Church. Monnat said Tiller’s wife, Jeanne, was in the choir at the time of the shooting... http://www.kake.com/news/headlines/46578032.html
What a very hateful thing to remark ... so out of character for the usual Mormon posters at FR.
Actually, I'm not so sure. This late term abortion of Mr. Tiller may bring some attention to the kinds of crimes against humanity that were being done by him and others in the name of the Constitution and may actually cause some other would be mass murderers to choose to use their medical skills to save lives instead of taking them.
My cat killed a little mouse last night. I felt really bad about that. I could only wish that I had a heart that could feel bad for Mr. Tiller. In this case, I feel sorrier for the cat.
I just hope he is not strongly aligned with any pro-life group... It may cause trouble for pro-lifers, and there might be possibly violence against pro-lifers at abortion clinics because of this...
I also understand that we must play politics with this issue.
The public is not ready for that logical extension, and most of us are smart enough not to fall into that trap.
Amen! And, to those who are concerned about the family... I say, think of all the brothers and sisters of 60,000 plus families that this S0B killed. The planet is a better place without him, and the fires of hell are burning that much hotter and brighter.
You write like a confused white thug with baggy pants...is that what you are?
but since you asked boy, this forum is full of threads with pics (in case you can't read) of your's truly out in the streets on behalf of Bush, war vets, counter amnesty and whatnot
what I do for charity is none of your business but it involves money and not the kind mommy and daddy give you for your beer and tattoo money
Crap! Hitler, Hitler, Hitler! This guy made Hitler look good.
"Capt. Brent Allred said police were looking for a gunman who fled in a 1993 light blue Ford Taurus registered in Merriam."
“This is a dark day for the pro-life movement. “
But a good day for unborn babies in Kansas, especially those who were on Tiller’s hitlist for Monday morning.
Their mothers may take pause and think about what they were about to do.
Or they may be afraid to go near the clinic.
This is a good thing.
Don’t be so self righteous.
