Attorney general directs U.S. marshals to protect abortion clinics, providers
The Colorado Independent ^ | 5/31/09 | Ernest Luning

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder dispatched the U.S. Marshals Service to protect “appropriate people and facilities around the nation” in the wake of the killing Sunday morning of late-term abortion provider Dr. George Tiller in Wichita, Kan.

Likely top candidate for federal protection: Boulder physician Warren Hern, believed to be the last remaining doctor in the world to provide late-term abortions.

Hern, director of the Boulder Abortion Clinic, told The Colorado Independent that Tiller’s assassination is the “absolutely inevitable consequence” of decades of anti-abortion fanaticism.

“Every doctor that does abortions has been under an assassination threat for decades,” Hern said Sunday afternon. “The anti-abortion movement message is, ‘Do what we tell you to do or we will kill you,’ and they do. This is a fascist movement.”

Here’s the statement Holder issued after Tiller’s assassination:

“The murder of Doctor George Tiller is an abhorrent act of violence, and his family is in our thoughts and prayers at this tragic moment. Federal law enforcement is coordinating with local law enforcement officials in Kansas on the investigation of this crime, and I have directed the United States Marshals Service to offer protection to other appropriate people and facilities around the nation. The Department of Justice will work to bring the perpetrator of this crime to justice. As a precautionary measure, we will also take appropriate steps to help prevent any related acts of violence from occurring.”

“My family is terrified,” Hern told the Wall Street Journal after Tiller was gunned down in a Lutheran church. Hern said both he and Tiller have “been targeted by name by anti-abortion activists who call them baby killers and mass murderers.”

After predicting anti-abortion violence would rise following President Barack Obama’s election last fall, Hern told the Los Angeles Times he knows he’s a target.

“They want the doctors dead, and they invite people to assassinate us. No wonder that this happens,” Hern said. “I am next on the list.”

A call to the Colorado District of the U.S. Marshals Service wasn’t returned Sunday evening.

If this statement is true, those who said the death of Tiller would not lead to any reductions in abortion are wrong.

Gawd ... it's truly sickening. That wacko just played right into 0's hands. Watch what's coming ... Lord, protect and save us. And bless the innocent babes. Dr. Hern, human eliminator.

Rahm Emanuel hired this hit man to distract from Obama’s total economic and foreign policy failures.

Why would you call this man unhinged? He saw a wrong that was unrightable because of the perversion of liberal government. He acted upon his convictions that murder was being perpetrated and the law was perverted and letting this happen.
If we were transported back to 1944 and he killed a Nazi doctor in charge of sending concentration camp victims to their death, would you condemn him?
Let the revolution begin, let the liberals live in fear.

Sounds to me like he is sending out his own invitation.

The last killing of an abortion doctor was 11 years ago.

The last terrorist act in America was 7 years ago which murdered 3,000, not 1.

That speaks to where US Marshalls priorities should go, I believe.

Why is it that, the killing of an abortion doctor, which I agree is tragic, is blamed on everyone in the entire pro-life movement? The vast majority of the people who are pro-life are as upset about this as anyone.

Why is it ok to tar the entire pro-life movement with the same brush, but in a case such as the Washington, DC sniper case, great pains were taken NOT to tar the Black Muslims or Muslims in general for those acts of domestic terrorism?????

“Some people get annoyed by making comparisons to the nazis but it’s like this administration is using the same playbook.”

Those “some people” should read “The Devil’s Disciples” by Allen Read, about Hitler, his close henchmen (Himmler, Goering, Goebbels, etc.) and their rise to power. Obama must have read the book, because he is following in their political path. Including making use of a financial crisis to achieve one’s political aims of taking over the gov’t and creating a fascist state. You cannot help but see the parallels when reading this book. Very, very scary. How quickly we are being changed into a fascist state, and the sheeple, all wrapped up in the economic turmoil, acquiesce.

After the February 1933 burning of the Reichstag Building, Herr Hitler demanded an emergency decree “to overcome the crisis.”

It passed and Hitler had Hindenberg sign it that same evening “for the Protection of the people and the State.”

The decree read, “Restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the press; on the rights of assembly and association; and violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic and telephonic communications and warrants for house searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed.”

Let me take a wild guess. Muslims vote democrat. Pro-Lifers don’t??

Even more important than that. Muslims give money to democrats. Pro-Abortion forces give money to democrats. Pro-Lifers don’t??

Am I close?

This, I guess would make more sense if the shooting happened at an abortion clinic. It would also make more sense if it happened more than once, in fact I don’t even recall the last Abortionist who was killed this year or many years ago. The latest might’ve been that guy who killed that Abortionist(might’ve been a priest or something) some years ago. All this is, just like the Swine flu dollars, is mishandling of our government to direct to a hyperbolic situation. And they call us “fearmongers”

Once again,

This is how we respond: The prolife community in Kansas and elsewhere provide crisis pregnancy centers and react to late term abortion by supporting perinatal hospice. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2261904/posts

(And, yes, I will spam every thread on Tiller’s death with this link. We cannot be silent about the good work done for life.)

No kidding, it hasn’t even been established why the guy shot this creep. It could be any reason.

I don’t think they are going to be in any rush to find the guy or find out why—like someone said earlier, a good crisis should not be wasted.

Well i see they have a suspect and they seem to be painting him as a pro-lifer—not unstable extremist, etc. Can’t say for certain, but it doesn’t look good for pro-life PR.

So the Abortion Doctor who has been receiving Death Threats didn’t get a CCW so he could protect himself?

” It would also make more sense if it happened more than once, in fact I don’t even recall the last Abortionist who was killed this year or many years ago.”

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/06/01/kansas.doctor.killed.charges/

The linked article names the other abortionist related killings. Below is that excerpt.

If Tiller’s killing stemmed from his work, he would be the fourth U.S. physician killed over abortion since 1993. Leading anti-abortion groups condemned his shooting, emphasizing that they wanted to shut down Tiller’s practice by legal means.

During the 1990s, three doctors who performed abortions were slain in high-profile cases.

In 1998, a sniper killed Dr. Barnett Slepian in his Amherst, New York, home. Anti-abortion activist James Kopp was later arrested in France and is serving life in prison.

In 1994, Dr. John Bayard Britton and a volunteer escort were shot and killed outside an abortion clinic in Pensacola, Florida. Paul Hill, a former minister, was convicted in the killings and executed in 2003.

And in 1993, another doctor, David Gunn, was shot to death outside another Pensacola clinic. His killer, Michael Griffin, is serving a life sentence.

In addition, a nurse at a Birmingham, Alabama, clinic was maimed and an off-duty police officer was killed in a 1998 bombing by Eric Rudolph, who included abortion among his list of anti-government grievances.

Rudolph admitted to that attack and three other bombings — including the 1996 attack on the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia — and is serving life in prison.
