BERKELEY SPRINGS - Morgan County Sheriff Vince Shambaugh said Monday that a local man has been arrested and charged with making threats against President Barack Obama.
While the details of Meadows' alleged actions have not been made public, Shambaugh said that his prior military background may have played somewhat of a role.
When his name was run through the system, Meadows was not found to have any previous history with law enforcement, Shambaugh said.
"We took extra precautions because he is a veteran and has had weapons training, so we felt it was better to err on the side of caution,"

Don’t the idiots know that vets are not the only one who receive weapons training!
And Sirhan Sirhan looked like a real goofball.
Had to be something worse than plastering "Snipers wanted." on a network TV broadcast.
? What was the threat? He had weapons training so they needed a SWAT team?
And those freaks didn’t have the guts to show their faces..
And a little brown shirter could have also made it up, twisted the intentions of comments...no one knows
Far worse than that. Our superb DHS, under nitwit Napolitano, declared in a report (since withdrawn under fire because the attempt to explain it away failed) that returning veterans with combat training, along with loyal American conservatives who believe in the Second Amendment, the U. S. Constitution, secure borders, etc., etc., are to be considered potential domestic terrorists.
So, if you're a conservative, our thoroughly corrupt Washington elite considers you a threat...
Of course, we consider many of them to be traitors to the United States.
“Martinsville? Berkeley Springs?”
___________________________________
You need to get out more. This is a suburb of Washington, DC with home prices that go with it. Berkeley Springs is yuppie heaven.
...and it’s Martinsburg, not Martinsville
How about I don't, and say I did?
But you're right, I really should have known where Martindale is. It just slipped my mind.
Just threaten him with the truth for pete’s sake...
Don't know about that, but I do know that the officer's oath has nothing about obeying orders. Just "support and defend" and "fulfill the duties (unspecified) of the office.
Good Lord, did his nose grow and his pants catch fire?
You realize that could be construed as a threat. Fighting for what you believe in. Do you have guns? Are you a veteran. A white person?
You mean like the Navy vet in Tennessee last month that wrote a letter calling Barry a usurper and a domestic enemy of the constitution; and as a man who had sworn to defend that same constitution, he would oppose his treason?
Or do you mean like all the Leftists the last few years openly calling for Bush's assassination?
In this case, we don't even know if he REALLY made a viable threat, or whether he was just an American citizen grumbling about a unlawful occupant of the white house.
Yet, the state descends on his home with a military force???
That he peacefully cooperated in his arrest should give you a big hint what kind of threat he was!
People were arrested and jailed for telling Clinton “you lied, those kids died” or close to that.
Not very threatening and that was what? Ten, 15 years ago?.
I want to know what it was he said. Did he say “I hope he drops dead of a stroke” or maybe a simple “he needs to be out of office”. Neither reaches the level of a personal threat anymore than what was said to clinton. We don’t know but it needs to be made public.
“This is a suburb of Washington, DC..”
NOT! This took place in WEST Virginia, which is NOT, by any stretch of the definition, “a suburb of Washington, DC”!
“No military member or government official takes an oath of fealty or any other allegiance to the president.”
Lets sort this out.
It is true that you, as a commissioned officer did not swear such an oath.
As a former enlisted Marine, you well know enlisted personnel do expressly swear, among other things, to obey the orders of the President.
Such an oath to obey can be interpreted as a continuing faithfulness to duty which indeed is a definition of “fealty” and this is not “just words” or a simple matter of semantics.
Ryderann’s post asked whether by appearing first in the oath, the duty to defend the Constitution took precedence over the duty to obey the President’s orders. You and I know it does from a legal standpoint, because the President’s power and authority flows from, is limited by and subject to the Constitution and cannot therefore be inconsistent with the Constitution.
I sidestepped Ryderann’s question by suggesting it makes little difference on the ground, most enlisted personnel will not balk at following an order that appears lawful; and that is how it should be.
We would all hope that an unlawful Presidential order would never reach the enlisted ranks because their superior officers would have refused the order.
Otherwise, it appears you and I are primarily on the same page.
Regards,
We don't know that he did.
and have weapons
I haven't seen any reports that he did or didn't have weapons.
and training to carry out those threats,
Unless you got your weapons training in Yemen. If you got your weapons training while serving honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces, your government with take the extra precaution of arresting you and smearing your reputation in the press. But if you got your weapons training in Yemen, you're welcome to gun down soldiers at any of our recruiting stations, without fear of any interference.
you need to be at the least questioned about it.
Nice straw man. They didn't just question him about it. They stormed his home with a SWAT team, arrested him and smeared his reputation in the public forum, because he is a vet. They said that's why they took these "extra precautions."
If the guy had not made the threats, he would not have been arrested.
I hope they don't waste money on a trial, now that we know he's guilty by virtue of having been arrested. I hope you've never served on a jury, and I hope you never do.
