EUROPE TURNS RIGHT
the business insider ^ | 6/7/09

Posted on 06/07/2009 8:56:08 PM PDT by FromLori

Voters punish incumbent left parties for the economic crisis. Ruling liberal/leftist parties have been punished in EU-wide elections, the first such vote since the world went into economic turmoil. In almost every country, right and even far-right candidates gained ground in the EU parliament.

The UK Labor party -- which is in disarray following scandal and the resignation of several chiefs just in the last week -- had a horrible night. Conservatives walloped the party of incumbent Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and even the ultra right British National Party picked up a seat, its first in the EU parliament.

The story was much the same elsewhere.

AP: With most votes counted in Austria, the main rightist party was gaining strongly while the Social Democrats, the main party in the governing coalition, lost substantial ground.

The big winner was the rightist Freedom Party, which more than doubled its strength over the 2004 elections to 13 percent of the vote. It campaigned on an anti-Islam platform, with posters proclaiming "The Occident in Christian hands" and describing Sunday as "the day of reckoning."

In the Netherlands, exit polls predicted Geert Wilders' anti-Islamic party would win more than 15 percent of the country's votes, bruising a ruling alliance of Conservatives and Socialists.

"Voters punish incumbent left parties for the economic crisis."

Think our Democrats will be as anxious to follow the enlightened Europeans on this trend as they have been in general?

Sadly YES I don’t think they care they will have done so much destruction by the time it rolls around and they know people are stupid and many won’t even realize it. Let’s just say it will still be “bush’s fault”...

"It campaigned on an anti-Islam platform"

Some actually showing enough gonadinal fortitude to stand what everyone with any sense knows needs to be said if Islam is to be kept from eliminating all freedom from Europe once and for all.

I just hope we don’t have to go through economically what Europe went through before we realize that leftist policies are not for us, like they did.

The Europeans have been suffering for years as the Socialists pushed the idea that the EU Parliament and the EU Secretariat should have more and more lawmaking authority over all the constituent states.

I suspect the Socialists are shortly going to find out what that means when the "other side" starts pounding their heads into the dirt.

I look forward to the mandatory return of "volcanic cheese" (a roll of triple cream goat cheese rolled in volcanic ash from the Jura mountains ~ taken off the market by the Socialist majority).

So, the Socialists destroy economies, leaving the conservatives to pick up the pieces. Then, when times look up, will they go back to voting for the same people who got them into this mess?

I think they will.

I saw an article a few years ago, “Bruxelles, Tu Nous Etouffes!” (Brussels, You Are Suffocating Us!). It detailed a number of heavy-handed laws. For instance, Belgium has a traditional jam made from carrots. But the EU decreed that jam may only be made from fruit, and carrots are not fruit.

I don’t recall what became of the carrot jam.

Carrot Jam

Ingredients

• Chopped carrots to fill a 1 litre bowl (Four cups) of chopped carrots. Be sure to chop the carrots up nice and small; this will help bring out the carrots’ flavours a lot easier.

• Three cups sugar

• Three sliced lemons

• One teaspoon cinnamon

• A half teaspoon cloves

Makes 4 half-pint jars
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes

Directions:

1. Add all the ingredients into a saucepan, and simmer slowly at a gentle heat. It is recommended that you stir the ingredients constantly, especially at the earlier stages of the cooking.

2. After about 20 minutes, the carrots should eventually begin to soften, and the jam will become thick. To make the jam smooth, put everything in a liquidiser and blend for a few minutes.

Obviously, the Victorians didn’t have liquidisers, but the results are far more pleasing using this method.

Although the jam can be used immediately, the flavour improves more after a few days.

I would even be glad to see a duplicate of the MSM's 1994 headlines "Voters Have Temper Tantrum".

Lori, thanks for your rollcall of Financial info daily!
I find it curious why so many Wall Street/Finance/Trading blog sites like Business Insider seem to tout so many anti-business postings on Obummer, GreenCrap, BDS, etc., as well as filthy commenters that sound like KGB wanna-bees?

The EU food content laws are not very different from our own. The USDA got into it with the "all fruit" guys for many years by demanding that anything made with jam also contain a minimum level of refined sugar.

I think the dispute may have misled some people into thinking that all-fruit products had fewer carbohydrates than traditional jam.

The rule I'm concerned with is this thing regarding the "volcanic cheese". It's just mindless.

Turning away from liberalism is turning toward God, whether you intend to or not.

Some will figure that fact out, if they do any studying of God’s truth.

“Hey, this stuff that works? You know, ‘reality’? That’s what God said all along! Wow!”

Your welcome. I found out some things yesterday about henry blodgett I hadn’t known maybe he has a personal grudge to bear?? I find him to be one of the most liberal anti business on the business insider. Today I cam across this article which also mentions him I hadn’t known he had been in trouble and oddest thing is by spitzer you would think he would now know better when even the looney leftist sites are now beginning to whine but lol they even say they will do nothing but whine I guess stupid is as stupid doees.

In its basic shape, the case against Mozilo might seem at first to resemble the case brought by Eliot Spitzer against Henry Blodget, then a stock analyst at Merrill Lynch (MER), which was also based on e-mails in which Blodget expressed qualms about what the bank was doing that were at odds with Merrill’s public statements. But the similarity is superficial. The difference is that Blodget was an analyst involved in a complicated tug of war among the bank’s divisions, genuinely trying to get his colleagues to change their practices. Mozilo, on the other hand, was in charge of the company. So how could Mozilo have such a clear view of what Countrywide was doing wrong and yet let Countrywide keep doing it?

The Democratic Party ignores its left-liberal-progressive base with some regularity because it knows it can. Politicians understand they will suffer no consequences afterward. The galaxy of mediating organizations, including organized labor, that surrounds and supports the party may stomp and holler, but they do not attempt any retribution that might alter their relationship with power. Reform organizations will not withdraw their support, either money or rank-and-file voters. Nor will they seek to punish any of the wayward Democrats who regularly vote against them with opposition at the next election. The “white hat” reformers are Washington insiders themselves, with a seat at the table and influence on the substance of the party’s agenda. They do not want to put their status at risk. Politicians know this from long experience. So do the reformers.

You’ve seen the “demographic” video on youtube, I take it?

Most European countries just need to implement an

“Immigration and Islamification Services” (IIS)

governmental agency.
