WASHINGTON — Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell may have a tepid relationship with fellow Kentucky Republican Sen. Jim Bunning, but he's giving GOP rising star and 2010 Senate candidate Florida Gov. Charlie Crist a thumbs up.

According to Crist's Web site, McConnell gave the governor a full-throated endorsement.

"Decisions are being made every day in Washington that have a direct impact upon the lives of all Americans and we need Charlie Crist in the U.S. Senate to ensure that those decisions will benefit the citizens of Florida.”

Crist, McConnell and other party luminaries are slated to attend a campaign fundraising event for the governor later this month at the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s Washington headquarters.

I heard Crist LIKES to get that “thumbs up”, but he prefers getting other appendages “up” even better.

Crist should run for Representative instead... he and Bawney Fwank could be BFF.

I’m so glad I’m not a Republican anymore.

I don’t particularly care for Obama-praising, stimulus-supporting, fake-baked RINOs.

I thought the GOP wanted to reach out to Hispanics? Why are they throughing a young, attractive, articulate Hispanic under the bus? Rubio has the potential to be a rising star in the GOP.

Bunning seems worth supporting for having had the courage to oppose the infamous bailout.

I am still a Republican, but the party left me long ago. I have to stick around to vote for Goodhair over Hutchison. What a reason to stay in a party!

Bunning is better than McC, but the people of KY don’t know that.

this is going to work out just like it did for and with Arlen Specter.

I'm so glad I moved to Texas. We've got RINO's but at least I'm surrounded by conservatives. In Florida there are too many transplants from the north that love government solutions, unions, lawyers and using other people's money to show their compassion. Cause doncha know they're much smarter than southerners.... just ask them.

It's going to end up like Cali. Just need to give it about 10-15 years.

Yes, I liked this part:

According to Crist's Web site, McConnell gave the governor a full-throated endorsement.

According to John Cornyn, there is only ONE requirement to run for Senate and receive his Senatorial Republican Committee support.

You gotta have MONEY. Deep pockets stuffed with LUCRE. Money money money. Doesn’t matter how you got it. Doesn’t matter WHERE you got it. Money honey! $$$MONEY$$$

Well, technically, 2 requirements: you also have to CLAIM to be a (R). But only until after the election! Then you can hang around with whomever you like, and vote how you please.

The sad part is that Bunning is a true conservative & really nice guy. McConnell lied to me when he said he was going to fight amnesty for illegals.

Even though I voted for McConnell for years, I’ll never vote for the man again. He is everything that is wrong with the GOP.

I used to respect the man. Now I see he’s merely another career politician. With a capital “P”.

We Texans have one too. John Cornyn. Conservative poseur extraordinaire. Politically astute. Well connected. Projects a good image. And totally worthless.

This is one Briar that appreciates Bunning. Appears that Trey Grayson may get Bunning's seat, or at least be the Repub candidate for it. I'm told he (Grayson)was a delegate to the Dem convention, supported WJC. Now, a stroke of the pen, and he's a RINO! Seeing the same out of the local Republican party at the county level. Ink hardly dry on the change of party cards.
