The Washington Times ^ | June 13, 2009 | Jim Robbins

Posted on 06/13/2009 9:52:50 PM PDT by Abakumov

A source from the Ministry of Interior said that the real results were 42 million votes for Mousavi, and only 5.6 million for Ahmadinejad. Iran's Militant Clerics Society has called for the vote to be annulled and a new election held.

Sorry I don’t believe in the awakening of the Persian people. For years some have promised that there will be a populist uprising and that the Persian people did not want nukes and loved the US.

Thus we squandered years while they built their nukes. And now the moment is upon us and we are still chasing our tails dreaming of their awakening.

Didn’t think of it that way, you’re right. I pray for those girls and what may happen or is happening to them.

You do know that they live in a totalitarian regime with murderous tyrants keeping a lid on their will?

How can you expect any awakening/uprising/change if the clueless West sits idly on the sidelines.

There have been many opportunities to destabilize the islamic regime. We did nothing except for some weak sanctions that the Europeans bypassed.

No Solidarnosc movement ala Poland. See how we supported the Eastern Europeans against Communism, it took decades to throw off the yoke.

It is unrealistic to expect isolated, disarmed and unsupported people to rise against one of the most thuggish regimes of all times on their own.

When the mullahs toppled the Shah, they were armed and supported externally.

Time to do that in Iran against the mullahs.

“Time to do that in Iran against the mullahs.”

No time. It’s too late.

And I have never seen any evidence, nor personally believed, that the nuclear program did not have popular support. The people may want freedom but they also want Iranian nukes. And that can’t happen.

Yes I have followed Michael Ledeen, faster please, but he never explained how regime change even if it were to occur, would change the drive for nukes. It won’t.

Possibly so. I always maintain that the nuke problem is something Israel should deal with airstrikes.

Doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t support an regime change.

Nukes aren’t the only problem here.

Mousavi was opposed to the religious police as a separate entity. Seeing as the protesters are mostly young and many female, this small item may have been very important on Mousavi’s popularity.

I would imagine so.

Everyone just kind of delicately tiptoed around it all, didn’t they?

>Below are thousands of Iranians chanting not “Death to America” or “Death to Israel,” but “Death to the Government.”<

This is why CNN won’t show it.

They don’t want us to get any ideas.

BINGO!!! As if that happens here people wouldn’t do the same. CNN doesn’t have to give American citizens that idea.

No wonder the people there are going ballistic.
