Being a Cub fan, I remember listening on WGN radio when it happened. I was just a kid then but I remember being so damn proud of Rick at the time and I still am. God Bless him and God Bless our wonderful country!

At the time, I was a Dodger fan , and recall Vin Scully describing this on the radio as it happened. Rick Monday became one of my favorites then, even moreso when he came to the Dodgers.
