Obama Intends to Extend Federal Benefits to Unmarried Partners (Homosexuals included)

President Obama will announce tomorrow that he is extending federal benefits to include unmarried domestic partners of federal workers, including same-sex partners, White House officials said tonight.

Obama will sign an executive order implementing the change in the Oval Office, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity to avoid upstaging the president's announcement.

The move would give partners of federal employees access to health care and financial benefits such as relocation fees for moves. The State Department announced a similar extension of benefits last month, with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton calling it "the right thing to do."

The action will come as welcome news to gay-rights activists, who have voiced loud disappointment with Obama's handling of several issues important to their community.

Obama has signaled his opposition to same-sex marriage, saying that he instead supports civil unions for gay men and lesbians.

Most recently, the Justice Department argued in court that the Defense of Marriage Act, which denies federal benefits to same-sex married couples, should be upheld. Gay-rights groups were infuriated by the administration's linkage of same-sex marriages to marriages between cousins or of an underage girl.

This could blow up right in the face of his Obamacorn supporters. Right now, women with children can still receive welfare, although they might be shacked up with a man who is making $150,000 a year. As long as they are not married and have no children in common, the woman is eligible to receive welfare. This could possibly put a crimp in that policy.

Do the people have to be having sex or can a custodial child who works for the federal government use the benefits for his ailing mother? How about two brothers who share an apartment?

Another question: Can a man and woman who live together (unmarried) get the same benefits?

Also, I can just imagine the termoil in the personnel offices.....everytime a gay man/woman has a weekend affair, the one working for the Fed will go there Monday morning and change his/her "dependents" name. Then, pick up someone else next week and promise them coverage....back to personnel for another dependents' name change.

OLD pickup line: "Come home with me baby and I'll smother you in diamonds."

NEW pickup line: "Come home with me baby and I'll smother you in health insurance."

Wow. I thought CONGRESS had to approve such a change in the law, since they control the purse strings.

I guess not in ObamaWorld. I s’pose he is the new dictator.

What about goats and sheep? Not to include them would be blatantly and unfairly discriminatory. Come on, let’s get with the program here!

To prevent the massive fraud this measure will encourage, homosexual couples will have to have homosex right there in the human resources office.

"Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Kinda' cool!"

I can't recall which Clinton hack said that, but this is the part of the next four years that scare me: he will use EO's to enact what the congress cannot or will not.
