EXCLUSIVE: Minn. lawmaker vows not to complete Census - (ALL questions must be answered?)
Washington Times ^ | 6/17/09 | Stephen Kinan

Posted on 06/19/2009 7:33:29 AM PDT by GeorgiaDawg32

Outspoken Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann says she's so worried that information from next year's national census will be abused that she will refuse to fill out anything more than the number of people in her household.

In an interview Wednesday morning with The Washington Times "America's Morning News," Mrs. Bachmann, Minnesota Republican, said the questions have become "very intricate, very personal" and she also fears ACORN, the community organizing group that came under fire for its voter registration efforts last year, will be part of the Census Bureau's door-to-door information collection efforts.

(SNIP)

Shelly Lowe, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Census Bureau, said Mrs. Bachmann is "misreading" the law.

All they will get from me is our names, the number in our household and birthdates and places of birth.

Do you nave to give them that much information?

I thought that all you had to give them was the number of people actually living in the household at the time.

Do you have to tell them over or under 18?

Article: “Shelly Lowe, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Census Bureau”

henkster: I’m sure I can rely upon my local ACORN representative/census taker to not “misread” the law.

Bruce: No kidding! Yeah, we trust the Census Bureau, now an arm of the permanent OBAMyou campaign...and liberals think this is all fine, and can’t understand what the big fuss is about...all three networks are about to bend their knee to the socialist figurehead, er, our erstwhile TOTUS...what in the world is there to fuss about?

That isn’t a certified birth certificate. That is a certification of live birth. There is a difference.

A COLB is not good enough to get married or become a police officer in the state of Wisconsin. I don’t know what the case is in other states. I know this because I had to drive to the courthouse in the county in which my children were born to obtain the certified birth certificate. They already had COLBs.

Logically, if Obama had a certified birth certificate it would have been produced. They are usually signed by the doctor that delivered you and name the hospital you were born in.

What hospital was Obama born in? Who was the attending physician?

There are threads on FR if you look for them that explain why anyone can get a COLB in the state of Hawaii even if they were not born there.

Yes I can. As I posted before I have both versions for all of my children.

Why would one not have a right to their own long form birth certificate?

Those who decline to answer these questions may receive follow-up phone calls and/or visits to their homes from Census Bureau personnel, and are threatened with prosecution and fines. No person has ever been charged with a crime for refusing to answer the ACS survey..

I'll take those odds... Besides the way the federal courts are already backlogged, if only a 100,000 people refused to answer and were charged, and then ALL demanded jury trials, it would lock up the federal courts system tighter than a drum.

If not against the law, then I would suggest that people insist on knowing what organization a census worker represents. It must be insisted that census workers wear very prominent ID tags which lists their names and the organization through which they're working.

There's nothing stopping some scammer from faking that they are from the *census bureau* and getting copy of the form online, coming knocking on your door and asking those personal questions anyway.

I don't care who he says he is, where he says he's from, what kind of official looking badges or documents he shows me. How do I know they're real?

So I'll tell them that I'm not answering any questions from a stranger no matter who he says he represents because I don't know if he's genuine.

Thank you so much for that excellent essay-post, dearest sister in Christ!

I, too, will resist giving them information absent clear evidence of their authority to collect it.

"Whoever, being over eighteen years of age, refuses or willfully neglects...to answer, to the best of his knowledge, any of the questions on any schedule submitted to him in connection with any census or survey...shall be fined not more than $100.

Sounds like money well spent!

that means ACORNs threats are not legal.

What local laws would cover some dingo illegally threatening me on my property. Is this a 911 moment?

>> ACORN wasn’t running the show. There will be intimidation this time.

Criminals threatening law abiding citizens with criminal prosecution. This is what America has come to.<<

Trust me when I tell you, no one wants to come to my home and threaten or try to intimidate me.

i think that the most compelling arguments are that his father was Kenyan according to him which makes him ineligible.

I posted quite a bit on my blog here with the necessary laws to make that point clear, along with the findings of John McCain’s eligibility hearings which are quite telling.

Let me know what you think.

They would have to find a US attorney who would prosecute this.
Just so you know, the threshold for most prosecutions starts at $10,000. for injury.

They won;t touch cases that don’t involve less than that.
To prosecute a civilian for refusing to answer more than name, number and ages of people in the house is pretty slim I would think.

>>Nothing but number....and race. Let’s see, uh, fifteen sounds like a good number and all white. That should counter some of the ACORN numbers.<<

That would be a bad thing. don’t do that. They will hammer you day and night .. it would be considered fraud

Yeah, that's my point about ACORN but on a much bigger level.
