Obama ‘Very Concerned’ by Khamenei Comments

US President Barack Obama said he was concerned by Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s speech Friday that called for an end to protests over Iran’s disputed election and suggested a government crackdown could be coming.

“I’m very concerned based on some of the tenor and tone of the statements that have been made,” Obama said in an interview with CBS News. Iran should “recognise that the world is watching”.

“How they approach and deal with people who are, through peaceful means, trying to be heard will, I think, send a pretty clear signal to the international community about what Iran is … and is not,” Obama said.

Khamenei threw his weight behind re-elected President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, insisting no fraud had taken place in the June 12 election.

He also issued a stern warning that illegal demonstrations were not acceptable, and that the opposition would be held responsible for any outbreaks of violence.

of thousands of people have been protesting in support of opposition candidate Mir-Hossein Moussavi.

It’s the Liberal way... all about feelings.

Symbolism over substance.

Thanks for the much needed laugh. Who knew how right Hillary was during the campaign when she criticized his flowery speeches.

“tenor and tone”

We mustn't forget that one of the Left's primary objectives is perfect harmony when singing "Kumbaya".

Obviously, Obama is in tune with this priority...

You get the impressions, Shermy, that this situation caught the Obamawallahs slightly(!) off balance.

It seemed they were getting ready to deal with any winner of this election, I’m sure discreet contacts by third parties and even at diplo gatherings, like with the former administration had occurred.

Then the people of Iran and what seems to be a substantial portion of the political elite seem to have had a minor disagreement with the authorities...lol!

As the former British PM remarked what he feared most, his reply, Events, my dear boy, events!
