So.... you trying to tie in the last battle against Israel into the current situation?
I am thankful that some are taking the lead to help the protesters, however, I fear that many Americans will think that “we” can “collectively” help Iran reach a resolution rather than assume our moral responsibility and demand that Obama step up to the plate! Meanwhile, we lose precious time and respect.
Yeah. But Iranians are using the election results as an excuse to protest against the mullahs.
Here’s an excerpt from an Iranian blogger: “Amir, Mashhad, aged 23: Please let the world know the people of Iran are using the election and its outcome as an excuse, their real problem is the whole system and the corrupt regime of the Islamic Republic. Anything that happens to us is because of this religion. How can I make you understand, religious beliefs are personal and should not be enforced on the public.”
I guess my thoughts are shared by most here. There isn’t much difference between the leaders fighting for power - they can all die. But my prayers are for the people who genuinely want freedom. God help them!
I don’t think uhbama or any liberal wants Iran to have a happy ending! It validates President Bush’s plan that a free and independent Iraq would influence it’s neighbors into the same.

Obama seems to have taken the position in his Cairo speech that, because of what the US did in overthrowing Mossadegh (1953), we are somehow disqualified from the least participation in the current events in Iran. The apparent conclusion is that we are FOREVER proscribed from anything that might be cast as "interference in Iran's internal affairs." It's a stupid position.
This is typical of what happens when a protest hits the streets. The original aims tend to ‘multiply’. Mousavi might be attempting to simply overturn the election, but some of the people in the street are thinking in broader terms.
Well, the gov’t did make the wrong choice when it sent the basij against the people. All it takes is one successful incident of an attack against the basij (that was videotaped) and you will see the mullahs hanged within a week.
I am guessing that by wednesday the mullahs will assassinate Achmadenajad to calm the people down and make them think they’ve won.
Obama would never have said what he did about the 1953 coup if he did not have a relatively benign view of the nature of the Soviet Union. We did what we did, anyway, because Stalin was no longer around, and so the Soviets could not support Mossadegh, who was leading his own coup. Obama has a very “on-the-one-hand, and on=the-other” way of talking about events. In his case, however, both hands are left-hands.
People forget that Iran was essentially split between the Russians & the Brits during WW2.
He is a coward. And he is a man who wants to be popular with world leaders by not taking a stand. For really STANDlING TALL for nothing (oh, maybe a few mediocre words now and then). He is an EXPERT at style over substance!!
