Troopergate Trooper Now Back On the Street

A well-placed source in the Alaska Department of Public Safety informs me that Mike Wooten, the Alaska State trooper who was disciplined for various violations of the law and placed on desk duty, has now been turned loose back on the street. Wooten, Sarah Palin's ex brother-in-law, who was disciplined for various infractions, including using a Taser on a child, shooting a moose out of season, and driving a police vehicle after consuming alcohol, whose misdeeds ultimately led to the dismissal of the former Commissioner of Public Safety by Governor Palin, has been returned to street duty with the Alaska Bureau of Investigation, a branch of the State Troopers, according to my source, who wishes to remain anonymous.

It would be nice for the news media to get wind of this and confirm this report. They could also start asking questions about why this fellow is no longer pushing paper, but instead has been returned to duty on the streets where he is presumably again armed and interacting with the public.

Palin’s enemies hard at work. Wouldn’t it be a shame if Wooten drunkenly got into an accident with one of these?

You know if they do anything, the SRM will blame Governor Palin for a scumbag like Wooten being back on the force.

Based on past actions, I would say that he’ll be a “good boy” for about six months. Somewhere around the end of this year...will occur his first big mistake. By the end of 2010...he will be noted two or three times in the news, yet still be a cop. Eventually, his boss will refuse to give a pay raise and hint that he should just move on...typically the action that communities do when cops are problems. Nobody ever fires these guys. So at some point within two years....he will become a TSA guy at some regional airport up in Alaska. This is typically where all the bad cops end up going when they can’t get or keep a cop job.

Thanks for posting
BTW-

The ABI IS a paper pushing job. Think detective level work.

If anyone would (ta-dah) actually like to know more about the subject at hand (ABI) try this
http://www.dps.state.ak.us/AST/abi/

When you know more, you can make better jokes/wizecracks and maybe imformed statements. Or not.

We all need to work on the level of humor.

Detectives, or not: They carry guns, tasers, and drive cars....and that is not funny. Sounds like you work for DPS.

You do raise a valid point and so a clarifying post is in order:

The individual in question could be assigned a desk job within the ABI; however the word I have is that he has been assigned out into the field, presumably into the major crimes unit. Ergo, no longer a court bailiff (under the close observation of the criminal justice system and judges)such as he was posted during the height of Troopergate.

My source reports that he is now assigned to investigative and enforcement duties outside of the office. Whether one is a moose, an 11 year old stepson, an ex-wife or ex-father-in-law, or just a private citizen, I doubt one would find much humor in this situation.

I wish. My buds that ARE cops all work for Anchorage PD.

I save my anger for the blanky-blank Union that saved this cats bacon. You want a crime - start looking there. Wooten is not the first, just one that made the funnies.

How many players that have done worse - has this Union covered up for?

Face it - the guys is a goof - sooner or later he will be gone, doing something even the Union cannot cover up.
