We are told that President Barack Obama has said relatively little over the past 10 days because he does not want to feed perceptions that America is "meddling." Fine. He's being overly cautious, in my view. But let's assume his expressed concerns are genuine.
Why does he seem to believe that he has only two choices: American meddling or virtual silence? Obama ran for president promising to end the unilateralism of the Bush administration. He ran as a liberal internationalist, a multilateralist of the first order--reaching out to everyone, at all times and with no preconditions.
What about a global statement that includes a strong condemnation of the violence and support for the protesters? Not something through the United Nations--we've seen on North Korea how effective its statements and resolutions have been--but a statement signed by the leaders of as many nations as Obama can bring together. It could use language some world leaders have used in their own statements already. The French have condemned the "brutal repression." The Germans have called the violence "unacceptable." Even the state-run newspaper in Egypt (Egypt!) called for more vocal support of the "democratic outpouring" in Iran and criticized the "caution" of the response from the West. As a candidate, Obama seemed to know how to do this. A little more than a year ago Obama spoke in front of an enthusiastic sea of people in Berlin. But while many people remember that Obama spoke overseas, few remember what he said there, apparently including Obama himself.

And yet O’Dumbo has no problem whatever “meddling” in Israeli/Palestinian matters.
What’s German for “President Pantywaist”?
why 'Peace In Our Time' of course
“President Klink”?
LOL ... Klink at least didn’t use a teleprompter. I think the German phrase Hosenscheisser which is used for “coward” ... fits him to a T. That literally translates as “trouser sh**er”.
“Herr Sitzpinklerfuehrer”
LOL ... another perfect fit.
Thank’ee much.
Beat me to it. And yes, he sought international support for his own “regime CHANGE” in America yet he is leaving the hope-&-changers out cold like JFK did when he bailed on support for the Bay of Pigs invasion.
Praesident Hoeschenbauch?
Emperor No-Clothes
A friend called to ask what I was doing and I said watching “President Pant Load”.
She thought I said “President Can’t Load”.
Now I’m Not sure which one is more accurate?
So, now our Dear Leader is gonna try hosenscheissering! LOL!
Meddling in the Israel/Palestinian issue is different. It’s OK to meddle on behalf of Muslims against one of the running dogs of American imperialism (which is probably how Obama thinks of Israel).
They should check and see what he has been loading into his bong.
He may be stuck on too much of that Dag Hammarskjöld conflict resolution and neo-Kantian international relations theory from the latest George Soros Open Society Institute seminar. He's still cramming the Karl Popper footnotes for the next meeting. George is a stickler for quizzes and follows the textbook the guy at Columbia gave him.
Präsident Babykleidung?
I know you don't believe that, but its amazing how often and easily that statement is put out there without any challenges.
*Taliban out of power, free elections in Afghanistan
*Saddam out of power, free elections in Iraq
*Gaddafi basically 'surrenders' after Iraq invasion
*Deaths from terror in Israel reduced annually from hundreds to a dozen
*No terror attacks on US soil after 9/11/2001
Fact is Bush worked for years through the Europeans to try to negotiate a deal with Iran not to build nukes, but was just banging his head against a brick wall.
The Obama people are naive and ignorant, believing the state run media propaganda, in thinking negotiations haven't been tried. They will also fail. What could we possibly offer what has now been exposed as a corrupt dictatorship that would give them more power than nuclear missiles?
