LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A couple fought back against two bold intruders in their Lee County Home.
The homeowner and his fiancee, a retired coast guard officer and a former maximum security prison guard, said they woke up in their home early Monday morning to find a gun pointed in their faces.
The couple took action and fought back against the two intruders. The homeowner even managed to get the crook's gun.
"At that point I was going to take his life and he begged for his life, ''I don't want to die, I don't want to die, please don't kill me, let me go,'" said the homeowner.
Afterward, the men ran off, but they turned around and shot at the house. One of the bullets grazed the homeowner's shoulder.
Lee County deputies say they are looking for the two bold thieves.
He should have put one in their legs.
Tough call there...shoot the dude when he is begging for his life? I suppose he could have just popped him in the leg...or at least i would have.
Tactically speaking, it would have been easiest to kill the perp as he was begging for his life.
If you don’t want me to take your life, don’t invade my home. That’s my policy, plain and simple.
In some states, the homeowner would have been arrested for stealing the burglar’s gun.
LOL! Yeah, but then you gotta put up with all that whining.
Tough call for me. I can Monday morning quarterback with the best of them but, unfortunately, I probably would have done the same thing that this guy did. Or maybe at least forced him to stay down and call the cops.

Bare minimum, a real serious pistol whippin'. Enough to keep him in a relaxed state 'til the poe-lees arrived.
I’m sure the homeowners gave a description of the burglars to the cops.

When dirtbags like this plead for their lives, pause very briefly and consider what they had planned for you. If you STILL don’t want to rid society of some bona fide scum, kneecap them. It will be extremely painful and guarantees that they are not running anywhere - ever.
I agree, and they won’t forget either.
The only reason I might not have shot them in the leg, is that there would be a mess to clean-up, and it would cost me. I think taking them out to the yard and doing it, or in the bathtub, would not carry much weight in court. So it would really depend a lot on where in the house it happened.
I agree, but killing both of them would bring lots of grief in court, I’m afraid.

Use the gun and break his nose. Real hard to even see when your eyes are teared up and there is lots of blood spewing from your nose.
Do that in CT & you're screwed.
The DA will ask "was your life in danger?" When you say yes. They come back with "Well, if your life was in danger, why did you shoot him in the leg?"
Happened to a friend of mine. And, YES. The laws here in CT favor the bad guy. Why, if you hear a noise downstairs, you can't grab your gun & investigate.....CT sees that as "hunting".

Leaving all the ethical considerations aside, these people have a really terrible security system if two guys can get into the house and point guns in their faces. Surely their security should involve motion detector lights outdoors, alarms at any potential entrance to the house, a dog, a small emergency backup dog, a locked bedroom door, and readily-accessible firearms next to the bed.

So, the homeowner let them leave AND he did not disarm them? And for his trouble he gets wounded in the shoulder. Hopefully he learned something.
