Couple Fights Back Against Home Invaders

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A couple fought back against two bold intruders in their Lee County Home.

The homeowner and his fiancee, a retired coast guard officer and a former maximum security prison guard, said they woke up in their home early Monday morning to find a gun pointed in their faces.

The couple took action and fought back against the two intruders. The homeowner even managed to get the crook's gun.

"At that point I was going to take his life and he begged for his life, ''I don't want to die, I don't want to die, please don't kill me, let me go,'" said the homeowner.

Afterward, the men ran off, but they turned around and shot at the house. One of the bullets grazed the homeowner's shoulder.

Lee County deputies say they are looking for the two bold thieves.

Have you all noticed that there are more and more stories like this? And this government wants to disarm us at the same time. For what reason? Duh, they want chaos so enough sheeple will beg for government protection.

If I am even in the unfortunate situation as these homeowners, you better believe I won't be saying a word to the press about it. Why immortalize statements that can come back to harm you later?

Couldn’t the defendant just say they didn’t want to kill, that’s why the leg? Crazy state

Should have killed them when he had the chance. Wouldn’t surprise me if they come back and kill the homeowners.

That’s exactly what you do. Considering that they fired shots at you and hit you AFTER you let them go? Who is to say the perps won’t be back to settle the score? The only way to be sure is to finish the job, call your lawyer and let 1 out of 12 men say not guilty. Always better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. ALWAYS!

The only one listed that I have, which is more than most of my friends, is the weapon nearby.

Prayers that the perps do not come after this couple in the future.

I was thinking the same thing. Did he let him leave and give him the gun back? I suppose one way to handle it would have been to unload his gun, hand it back to him, then shoot him dead with your own gun. “He pointed his gun at me, and forced me to shoot him” Clear self defense.

If he had at least shot them in the leg, odds are, if they came back, they would be slower.

not so in florida, where we have the castle doctrine and no bag limit.

...I’m thankful to report.

Here in Texas there would be no trial. Just a call to a carpet cleaning service.

I guess their thinking is that A)You're only supposed to use your gun if your life is in danger. And, B) if it is in danger you're going to go for center mass, not a difficult leg shot where the danger is "injured" but not completely eliminated. Also, a wounded perp can & WILL sue the crap out of you. Going to court in a wheel cahir, etc. where a dead perps family doesn't hold nearly the same level of "feeeling" for jurors.

It's crazy here. It's so bad, that if a perp steals your purse, etc and runs away....if you give chase with your gun in hand, YOU'RE now the bad guy.

Any time a perp is in your home your life is in danger.

Florida or not, castle doctrine or not, it’s best to have some warning when people are getting into the house. In other words, if you wake up and find a gun in your face, it’s tough to even reach a hand out get to your own weapon. It’s nice to have some system that lets you know you have incoming. Then you have time to wake up and put the weapon in your hand.

As a single lady, I like the electronics around the perimeter. I had a wonderful young (but tired) dog sleep right through a major house fire, so dogs aren’t the sole answer, either.
