Open Letter to Freepers: The U.S. As You've Known It Is Already Dead

I was reminded two very important quotes from John Adams about the American Revolution:

What do we mean by the American Revolution? Do we mean the American war? The Revolution was effected before the war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments, of their duties and obligations... In other words, years before the American Revolution, there had been a revolution in people's minds about the way things were and the way things should be.

Forget the disputes over just how real are Obama's high poll numbers. This is beyond Obama, or even his current followers.

Whether we realize it or not, the US went through another mental revolution of thought over the past few decades -- maybe beginning as far back as the anti-war protests of the 1960s, maybe to Roosevelt's New Deal, maybe to Lincoln forcing a more centralized Union...whatever.

This revolution of thought has slowly eroded the entire mental foundation of the country's founding principles.

The U.S., as it was and as many of us here still think of it, is already gone. Dead. A number of us have not fully caught up to this emerging reality.

Obama, and Bush before him, are only making that obvious. Steele, Arlen Spectre, the feckless GOP, all the rest -- it's all part of bigger picture already drawn and entrenched, maybe even before many of us were born.

Many of us are holding onto a mental artifact that is gone or never existed in the minds of our "fellow Americans." That remains true no matter what happens to Obama, long after he's gone.

Does that mean we give up? No. But that if you're making a personal decision not to give up, you have to start thinking more seriously about follow-up to those Tea Parties and perhaps to secession.

The U.S. is, beyond everything else, an idea. When our "fellow Americans" no longer share the basic elements of that idea -- of even basic standards of mutual respect, logic, reason, civil discourse, respect for others as equals -- our "fellow Americans" are no longer our "fellow Americans."

Plan accordingly.

I am hopeful that the time for revolution can be deferred a couple years until the US government either defaults on its debts or hyper-inflates, destroying the dollar and the economy. When that happens we can possibly make Obama a one-term loser and discredit the Keynesians once and for all (again). No one should discount the effect that a depression could have on reawakening America.

But for that to happen we would need genuine conservative leaders to step up and for the Republican party to either go away or be cleansed of RINOs.

The American Revolution had real leaders, solid ideology, and active press and pulpit power. I am buying the book Unintended Consequences to try to grasp the viability of the idea of a leaderless revolution. But as I see it now without a solid opposition party and real leaders, my inclination would be to put my family's fortunes first and survive the coming economic turmoil.

This is clearly a thought being considered in many circles and there may be valid reasons for such to come to fruition. Several german generals attempted such against their own Hussein, and sadly, they failed.

I remember listening to Levin a few days back, and the point that the majority of individuals at the time of the revolution, were not in favor of a revolution. I keep that in mind always, too.

There is a very real possibility that conservatism may become extinct for a generation or two and that the revolution may take place decades or centuries from now.

I’d like to see the military rise up against the government and I’d be more then willing to support them like I do now. We took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against enemies both foreign and domestic.

The enemy is now domestic and it is the government. The executive and legislative branches of government are in direct violation of the Constitution.

#17 Excellent but know what? I think that is that is already underway. It’s just silent. When millions begin to do it and talk about it, as you said, it will bring runaway government to it’s knees. They need us to work and send our money to them so we can fund their Communist takeover.

What realistically would the military do? Would they obey The One since he is the president? Or would they arrive in front of the people only to turn around with their weapons and show that they are on the people's side?

It happened today in Honduras. It could happen here. Officers in the military are sworn to uphold the Constitution, not to obey the CIC. The question is, do the military officers today, have the guts to honor that oath.

If it's gonna start it'll probably be in Texas, with say Arizona and Oklahoma joining in. It can then move up the Midwest and Rocky Mountain states, essentially dividing the country in two. Then we'd have to spearhead the movement on two fronts, a march on DC and the east coast and a march on the west coast. We could probably get the west coast to give up if we concentrate on DC. Divide and conquer, as they say.

I'm stuck here in San Diego, but am seriously reconsidering a return to my native Texas.

I know it's painful to head over to DU and read some of their posts but it's always good to see what your opposition if planning, thinking, doing, etc. Now KOS, forget it, they are all way out there, complete commies and progressives. They don't ALL disagree with us. Many of them do believe in the Constitution and are they do criticize Odumbo, Rahm and others. Maybe not all of them for the same reasons, but there are Democrats that aren't for a Communistic America. The percentage that are is smaller than many of us think. Many of them are realizing it's not so much about party and that the government is out of control, on both sides of the aisle.
Granted, the ones with Che avatars are our enemies. Some of them gripe about the same things we do. Some of them don't like the Waxman Markey(Cap and Trade) bill either. They don't want their taxes to skyrocket and now the cost of these things is hitting home. Not all of them are welfare moochers and some of them have good jobs and good health insurance. They thought it all sounded good until it began to hit then in the wallet too. Many of them rabidly want a single payer health care plan, like Canada. Those are the freeloaders that think they will get it free and we will pay for theirs. This is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My point is.... I think the percentage that want a Communist Global America is far less than many think. When it comes down to the wire, I think we have a bigger percentage than many think we do.

So, what if a big part of the US joined in the secession? What if it turns out that secession looks like the county by county map of the last election? If so, then the little blue pockets will starve in short order and the fight will be to keep them in there long enough that they dispose of themselves.
If you look at it that way it’s easier to smile in the morning.

As long as it can...

I would be appalled if the rest of the states we used to be in “union” with would wage open war with us for deciding that they were not what we wanted to be a part of anymore...

Those who do not agree can certainly leave, and I would protect that decision with great enthusiam...And they should not be molested in any way shape or form for wanting to leave...But any state that wishes to dissolve their association with the Union should not be dissrespected for doing so, or even making noises to do so...

But what should happen is that the rest of the states should really dig deep and try to find out why...And not devote time, money and thought into what they want to do to us for deciding to leave the Union...

I figure a move like this should not be a permanent one either...Think about how neat it would be to fix the problems which created the separation,and see a re-unification at some time down the road...

That would be a great day if you ask me...

But if there is to be a fight...Well, that won’t be my decision, but it certainly would not be something I would shy away from either...No one will ever be that unhappy again as far as I am concerned...

But lets see if we can avoid this if we can...
