Someone is trying to demonize Bachmann...I think Glenn was in 100% agreement.

Glenn's look of disgust was at the census and what they're attempting not Michelle.

Didn’t Hitler use something like the census to ferret out the Jews?

BeeHoe is Hitler lite. A fascist is a fascist, no matter what color they be.

I’m surprised to see that no one, at least so far, has commented on the fact that Census data was indeed used for rounding up Japanese-Americans for internment after the Pearl Harbor attack.

It is safe to assume that whatever data an institution collects will be used by that institution for whatever purpose its managers believe they can get away with. Given the lack of respect for constitutional strictures (except as a convenient club to beat in-power political opponents with, until you can get back into power), it is prudent to assume that whatever data is collected can, and will, be used against you if you cross the powers-that-be.

A useful reference:
http://liberrants.blogspot.com/2009/05/hey-fellow-liberty-lovers-lets-all-make.html
Money quote:
“For those naïve and disconnected sheep who stilll believe tthat anything emanating from USG sources is anything but a lie, particularly the Census Bureau’s official bovine excrement that census data is used only for the purpose of determining Congressional Districts, I have just three words for you: Japanese-American Internment. Yes, dear naïve fools, it was data from the 1940 Census that the government used to locate, dispossess, and intern, like common criminals, Japanese-Americans in the opening months of World War II. Is there any doubt in a reasonable person’s mind that the fascist police state now evolving before our very eyes will have ANY qualms whatsoever about using the Census Bureau as just another weapon in its bureaucratic armory of tyranny tools?”

Bachmann has been commenting on this for a while now.

All that looked like to me was another lame effort to show just how “compassionate” Liberals really are.

“Bachmann has been commenting on this for a while now.”

Good for her... increases her credibility in my view.

Does he still post all those silly pictures of bicycle wheels, assorted pieces of metal, hazy skies over the ocean, and concrete abutments?

I agree it seems she is stating a fact. I will assume it is true. I don’t know how she can be loopy for that.

Yes, last I deigned to wade into that freshly formed fever swamp, the doltish art school 101 fotographica pretensia were still on display.

Part and parcel of deluded grandeur, posing as the artiste, wouldn't you say?

Right and that is what gets me. People on the other side don’t have to like her, but she does have a point here. The government doesn’t need to know all this stuff about you. I bet most of the people complaining about what Bachmann said here were also complaining about Bush spying on everyone.

It was great when Beck had his guy on the street asking people questions from the census long form. When one said that the questions were getting too personal he disclosed that these were just census questions. Interesting reactions - mostly disgust.

Two alternatives on the census. The one most talk about is not answering. The other might be to just get extremely long winded. Like, for each question, say “see attached.” Then do 100 convoluted words on each question. E.g. “how long is your commute?” “Well, it varies. Sometimes I stop at Dunkin Donuts. Sometimes the line is long and I go in the store rather than use the drive through. Occasionally I have to drop the kids off at school. That adds perhaps 20 minutes. So overall I guess my commute varies between 20 minutes and 1-1/2 hours.”

You’d think the people who are devising this census would have that historical perspective, how a census can be abused in several directions, not just as (it appears) THEY want to abuse it.

Over the past few decades there has been a push for minorities/illegals to fill out the census forms .. but what if, by their standards, ‘the wrong people’ ended up in charge in another 4, 8, 12 years? The very information today’s group is pushing to collect could backfire on those very people in the future.
