Reparations Disclaimer on Slavery Apology Stirs Backlash Among House Dems
Foxnews ^ | 6/29/2009 | Staff

A disclaimer at the end of this month's Senate resolution offering an apology for slavery deals with the touchy issue of reparations, and is causing some dissension among House Democrats that may prevent the two chambers from coming together on the measure.

The disclaimer says: "Nothing in this resolution (A) authorizes or supports any claim against the United States or (B) serves as a settlement of any claim against the United States."

That means the resolution cannot be used by descendants of slaves to sue the government for reparations or payments to compensate for slavery.

The language has irritated some members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

"I would not want to have any language in place that would deny anyone, any citizen, the right to address a grievance," said Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas.

"I feel that some method other than just an apology should be made. People should be made whole," Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said.

Fine with me. Let it die.

So how much do you figure the descendents of American slaves should have to pay the US Government for ending slavery?

I guess that means that I should be expecting reparatioms from the Queen of England as my ancestors were ‘oppressed’ and had to leave the country as Pilgrims. Give me an effing break already.

The Dims and the “Black Caucus”.
Nothing you do for these people will ever be enough.

In the minds of the Black Caucus, this is absolutely about money. Never doubt that for a minute.

This is what it’s all about with them. Shaking down the taxpayers for more money, as if the Civil War, Affirmative Action and welfare weren’t enough. People like these two are laying out there, coiled like the snakes they are, ready to strike for “reparations” when the think the time is right. Watch the scatology hit the air circulation device when that comes to pass.

If there are any former slaves alive now, I will be happy to give a donation. but otherwise, no “reperations” are getting my hard earned money.

this is more of the Usurpers” distribution of wealth ideology.....taking the money from those who work hard, make sacrifices, to those who dont, who feel some entitlement to my money. something for nothing. Kinda like that lady who said that the Usurper would pay her mortgage and gas.

victim ideology, all of it.

no way, no how. it will bankrupt our country.

how bout you get money the old fashioned way....WORK FOR IT?

I’m going to vomit.

BS alert. The whole idea behind these resolutions is to begin to lay the foundation for reparations claims later on.

The First Pimp calls it "economic justice."

Last I heard, taxpaying Americans had already dumped over $10 trillion down the "Ingrate Society" welfare toilet.

Yeah, I know. "People should be made whole..." Made whole for what? None of them were slaves.

Sorry but I think that any former slave still alive should receive significant reparations...paid for by any former slave owner still alive. Otherwise forget it.

I told everyone who would listen last year that the CBC would push for reparations if O-Gangsta were elected.

I fervently hope that they try to pass reparations.

Elected Democrats will be on the endangered species list.

I would personally like to claim reparations for the emotional harm I have suffered from having to listen to the likes of Sheila Jackson Lee, Bennie Thompson and their fellow travelers in the Congressional Black Caucus as they scream their racist claptrap.

However, any person who has ever been held in slavery by me or any member of my family is welcome to apply to me for reparations. All applications will be judged strictly on the merits. However, if any application is rejected for insufficient cause, the filing fee will be forfeit.

I would like to say that these misfits of society can go straight to hell before they get a dime from me, but they are already getting reparations and it’s called by other names.....

Blacks don't want any apologies. If you go to any of the black websites you can see that reparations, not apologies, is the goal. It's not clear exactly what blacks want reparations for though.

There were thousands of black slave owners in the south. There were black slave breeders who sold their own children into slavery. Blacks in Africa sold other blacks into slavery. And their ancestors want reparations?
