Obama's new pastor, Southern Baptist?
Church Executive ^ | July 1

Is President Obama's new pastor a Southern Baptist? Apparently, it depends whom you ask.

Time magazine posted a story June 29 stating Obama has "decided to make his primary place of worship" Evergreen Chapel, the nondenominational church at Camp David which is led by Navy Lieut. Carey Cash, a Southern Baptist chaplain. The White House, though, denied the Time report, releasing a statement saying "the President and First Family continue to look for a church home."

"They have enjoyed worshipping at Camp David and several other congregations over the months, and will choose a church at the time that is best for their family," the White House statement continued.

But the author of the Time story, Amy Sullivan, is sticking to her original story, saying in a follow-up Time blog that "nothing in the [White House] statement contradicts my reporting."

I wonder how long Obama will last at this church. Cash is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Give him a break. It’s hard to find a black church in Washington DC.

Indeed.

Dunked. Being wetted by a branch. No big difference, I suppose.

We don't want him in the SBC. Unless he renounces Islam and accepts Jesus Christ as Personal Savior.

Barry could not handle being around a real Southern Baptist pastor/preacher. Bet.

I agree. This pastor seems to be the real deal.

Obama will have to repent or change church, since the Holy Spirit will eventually convict him of his errors.

I think you can look for Pee-lousy to submit a pork filled request to build a mosque on Camp David's grounds.

The pastor at the Evergreen church is not Obama’s pastor, the pastor happens to be at the church Obama will visit. Two different issues altogether. Obama cannot “join” this church it does not have memberships.
