Thank you for your request for Air Force aviation support during God and Country Festival on 01 Jul
2009 in Nampa , ID.
We have carefully reviewed this particular event. As you may recall from the request form’s
instructions, the Department of Defense (DoD) authorizes the Air Force to participate in flyovers for
those recognition events held in direct support of the five patriotic holidays (Armed Forces Day,
Memorial Day, Independence Day, POW-MIA Day and Veterans Day) and for aviation-related events,
such as airshows and airport dedications. Sporting events that fall on one of the five patriotic holidays
mentioned above are not considered to be events held in direct support of a holiday commemoration
and will require a waiver.
Your Air Force aviation support request doesn’t fall into either approved category, as such, we are
unable to approve it. Air Force and DoD policy prohibit support for events which appear to endorse,
selectively benefit, or favor any special interest group, religious or ideological movement.
With an increasingly high operations tempo and limited resources to meet our training and operational
commitments, we are required to take a hard look at all of our requests and carefully follow our
policies and guidelines. In denying your request, we are not questioning the worthiness of the event,
but rather enforcing DoD and Air Force policy to preserve the operational and training requirements of
our aviation units and to practice the prudent stewardship of taxpayer-financed resources.
We hope that you can appreciate and understand our position. We believe that your event will,

Hope the libs are happy. “zero”, the first President who actually hates America and Christianity. He hid it from a lot of sheep during the campaign, with the help of the msm, but now makes no bones about it.

No surprise here. Our Boy Scout troop always requests congratulatory letters from the White House to present to our new Eagle Scouts at their award ceremonies. The office of the “Undocumented One” has not responded to our requests. Either they are hopelessly inept in these matters or they don’t care to congratulate Eagle Scouts. (or both . . . )

The military served OUR country, not Barry Soetoro. Barry is only serving himself.

At the NASCAR race at Infineon Raceway last month, the reverend said a prayer and then the AF did a flyby. I’m sure the atheists have all NASCAR races in their sights, too.

I would suggest they contact one of the many organizations around the country that maintain and fly warbirds, the fighting craft of yesterday. I would much rather see an F-86 Sabre Jet or a vintage WWII four-engine, piston and prop bomber! Or maybe even a couple of dozen great old warbirds like P-51 Mustangs and P-38’s!

Nope, I would be for telling BO and company to buzz off. We'll just go with the aircraft that represent the nation as it was in pre-BO days. I would also make certain as many of the warbirds were being piloted by current members of the armed services as possible. My heart really goes out to those who took the oath and now have to serve under the Great Pretender.

We are going to have get creative for the next few years and find ways to show Team-BO for what they really are.

Nampa? Maybe they (too late this year) should contact The Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa, to help find a group of willing pilots of ex-military aircraft who would be willing, along the lines of a Wing or Squadron of the Confederate (Commemerative?) Air Force.

Gee, with a bit of work, they might manage to have war birds in the air, and Rolling Thunder bikes on the ground; who would need the Pentagon?

I realize everyone is really upset about this, especially given the historical nature of the fly over, but this denial represents the enforcement of longstanding DoD, not Presidential/ Obama or otherwise policy. Looking at the God and Country mainpage, the primary goal of the festival was evangelism. If the AF supported an evangelical outreach they would also have to support Muslim, Hindu, Scientologist, etc. evangelism events.

For anyone interested here’s the offical AF response:

The guidelines applied by the Air Force that govern the approval process for aircraft flyovers are stipulated by Department of Defense regulations. These guidelines are not the result of new policies directed by any other agency or government office.

Each aviation request received is evaluated and considered on its own merits. In the case of the God and Country Festival, the determination was made that flyover support would not be in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy which prohibits support for events which appear to endorse, selectively benefit, or favor any special interest or religious organization, regardless of the event date.

Several other similar events were determined ineligible this year for the same reasons as the God and Country Festival. The Air Force carefully scrutinizes the purpose and overall missions of those organizations interested in receiving aviation support. Each request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine if it’s in the best interest of the Air Force to support and meets all applicable guidelines set forth in both DoD and AF policy.
