Sarah Palin not under FBI investigation, agency spokesman says

Reporting from Washington -- A day after Alaska Gov. Sara Palin resigned, a federal official in her home state dismissed one potential explanation for her sudden and unexpected resignation -- a rumored FBI investigation into the former Wasilla mayor on public corruption charges.

Despite rumors of a looming controversy after Palin's surprise announcement Friday that she will leave office this month, some of them published in the blogosphere, the FBI's Alaska spokesman said the bureau had no investigation into Palin for her activities as governor, as mayor or in any other capacity.

"There is absolutely no truth to those rumors, that we're investigating her or getting ready to indict her," Special Agent Eric Gonzalez said in a phone interview Saturday. "It's just not true."

Gonzalez added that there was "no wiggle room" in his comments that could exclude any kind of probe.

She's be a public figure. Falwell v. Flynt, for example. No matter, she's making it clear that she's not going to put up with false rumors being spread by larger publishers, including the likes of HuffPo. If they publish something false, she'll demand a prompt and prominent retraction/correction. In other words, her people will be "on them" at least as much as they are "on her."

I believe that one of her "missions" will be to stifle the rumor-mongering and irresponsible press. She holds them in utter contempt, and they are in her crosshairs.

If all she ever accomplishes is backing the concubine media off of our conservative good guys then I'll be extremely pleased.

Please see my tagline.

Many times when the so-called “conservative” pundits were talking about 2012 candidates, they purposefully left off Sarah’s name from that list. Now let them be on the receiving end of whatever Sarah decides to do. Sarah is in charge now. She will be the voice of the Republican party whether any of them choose to acknowledge it or not. The question is, when will they come to recognize this fact.

She can wreak havoc on their credibility in the eyes of the gullible public. And as a "target" of falsehoods, she has a unique position of power, via standing in court of law, to make the liars hold their tongues. She won't be able to stop the lies about anybody else (i.e., any other "good guy") - that's up to them. But I think she'll set an example and provide a template that is easy to follow. Demand prompt and prominent corrections, or else answer to the judge.

... I don’t think she can be, and I think she knows it. ...

You just think you have all the answers. You have none of them, apparently! You just sound like the MSM! You're a troll! Look how quickly you jumped onto a new thread to spew your vitriol and lies. Your opinion is not shared by many on this site...

************

Notes from Sarah Palin:

On this Independence Day, I am so very proud of all those who have chosen to serve our great nation and I honor their selflessness and the sacrifices of their families, too.

If I may, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the last 24 hours and share my thoughts with you.

First, I want to thank you for your support and hard work on the values we share. Those values led me to the decision my family and I made. Yesterday, my family and I announced a decision that is in Alaska’s best interest and it always feels good to do what is right. We have accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two – and I am proud of the great team that helped to build these wonderful successes. Energy independence and national security, fiscal restraint, smaller government, and local control have been my priorities and will remain my priorities.

For months now, I have consulted with friends and family, and with the Lieutenant Governor, about what is best for our wonderful state. I even made a few administrative changes over that course in time in preparation for yesterday. We have accomplished so much and there’s much more to do, but my family and I determined after prayerful consideration that sacrificing my title helps Alaska most. And once I decided not to run for re-election, my decision was that much easier – I’ve never been one to waste time or resources. Those who know me know this is the right decision and obvious decision at that, including Senator John McCain. I thank him for his kind, insightful comments.

The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the “politics of personal destruction”. How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it’s about country. And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make. But every American understands what it takes to make a decision because it’s right for all, including your family.

I shared with you yesterday my heartfelt and candid reasons for this change; I’ve never thought I needed a title before one’s name to forge progress in America. I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness!

God bless you! And I look forward to making a difference – with you!

Sarah

When things like this come up, I think of the Tom Berenger line from the film Platoon: “You can’t fight a war with one hand tied around your balls.”

Huffington is mentally damaged because her husband left her for a man. Hunt down and destroy all these vermin Sarah!

Like I said, she wants to do what's right for her family, not be a political pawn to all the people trying to make plan for her.

The FBI denied the rumor that half the staff at the LA times is under investigation for rape, but had no comment on the other half.

(This is too easy.)

The CIA denied that the editor of the LA Times in under investigation for treason, but the NSA had no comment.

The LA sheriff denied rumors they’re digging up dead bodies of boys in the basement of the LA Times, but the CHP wouldn’t comment where its front-end loader was located.

A senior LA Times reporter was seen taking white sheets into a dry cleaner, but Senator Robert Byrd refused to comment and hung up the phone.

I’m getting the sense that this woman is none of these things, and doesn’t want to be any of them either. She’s just a housewife and a PTA mom from a small town. I don’t think she wants to be your political DragonSlayer. I don’t think she can be, and I think she knows it. I think the pressure from all sides has gotten to her and that is what drove her out of elected office. Not just the media attacks and the witchhunts, but also her own following pulling her in all directions, demanding more from her than she was willing or able to deliver.

LMAO...you're a hoot counterpunch. You really are.

I agree and it will give me great pleasure to see every one of the DEMS and RINOS spreading lies to get what is coming to them in a court of law! GO SARAH!

nor can they sue retroactively after leaving office.

Well presumably, then, she could sue for defamation committed subsequent to July 26. They've been put on notice.

You are simply projecting your "hope and change" on her... and cannot properly discern fact from your personal thoughts. You have been repeatedly revealed as a liar, and verified as a troll.

Crawl back under your rock! I betting she isn't going anywhere, but to the White House! It is her family values that drive her politics, FRiend. She isn't an ideologue. She is apparently a real conservative with a mission, unlike what you claim.

You don't even know why Fred left the race. Honor. Friendship. Integrity. Fred left because John McLame was his friend, and Fred did not want to step in front of him. Fred has many solid conservative, Christian principles. Maybe you should follow that lead.

Why don't you find some other subject to reveal your ignorance? Maybe you should tell scientists how to put a man on Mars. You may know more about that subject.

Buck up MestaMachine. Demrat lurkers and RINOs will take pot shots at anybody they see as challenging the status quo. To wit: The dominance of the RINO-led GOP and its handlers—the Demrat Party—in selecting our presidential candidates.

This was from last year, the story about her being under investigation, it was run out again by one of the liberal bitches of Alaska who smears Palin all the time, just to cause trouble. Someone said they were reading Kos and the libtards over there said they knew it was a BS story but they were going to push the press to run with it anyway, just to mess with Palin.

I hope she sues their tails off.

The left is terrified of Palin and if they really thought she was leaving politics for good they would shut up and leave her alone, but they know she is not just quitting and that she could hand them their heads on a platter, and she will, if she wants to work at it.

The Times must have believed her lawyers when they said they were going after anyone who repeated this fake story.
