Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit
Women of the Web ^ | July 4, 2009 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 07/05/2009 10:17:12 PM PDT by SolidWood

I’m confused by all the confusion among the chattering classes about Palin. I thought her press conference explained it very clearly – though she couldn’t put it precisely this way without sounding vain, but it’s obvious.

Even though she’s just a state governor, she’s a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama). But she basically can’t participate because she’s tethered to the governor’s office up in Alaska. Consequently, she has to fight with one hand tied behind her back and she also can’t go around the country campaigning for candidates and principles she believes in – because she’s governor and would be accused of neglecting the state.

Meanwhile, the Lt. Gov. is a great guy, so she’s leaving the state in good hands and now she can go on to be an even bigger star.

It’s a weird Washington insider perspective to be perplexed by what she’s doing. Contrary to Mark Sanford’s e-mails to his mistress, no one was really impressed with him; 99.99999999999999999% of Americans didn’t know who he was. Who is more influential: Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and Bill O’Reilly, or Tim Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford (before the fall)? As Palin said, God bless people who run for political office, but – and she didn’t say this part – she’s too big to be a lame-duck governor stuck dealing with fishing licenses in Anchorage right now.

She’ll be much bigger now and can play on the national stage without constantly setting off state ethics investigations by loons, parasites and liberals. None of this applied to McCain or Kerry – both of whom went back to the Senate – because their national campaigns diminished them. Palin’s national campaign made her a major star. As she said, she’s not retreating, she’s advancing in another direction.

you might want to listen to the related speech
/////////////
Yeah well millions of folks are not going to listen to that speech, they will just remember that she quit.......

Actions speak louder than words.

I saw the speech and I hope no one else does because she looked so bad in it.

Truth be told, that speech was a bad speech. A lot of rambling and full of bad examples and quotes. She had two weeks to prepare it and hit a homerun.... and it came off as swingly wildly at a bad pitch.

Whenever she speaks in the future it will be in the shadow of that disorderly political pull out. People are going to say, “Why should we listen to someone who couldn’t take the heat”?

Sarah Palin is a great American. She stands for the Right things....she has yet to prove she can articulate and convince folks of them. She had her chance against Biden. She could have crushed him and his liberal agenda. She did not.

Too bad, because the USA needed and still needs someone who can.

On the other hand we may not need anyone better than a very good patriot like Gov. Sarah Palin........................
- afterall the democrats won with a worthless closet homosexual America hating cocaine freak like obambi.

Many of us admire Mrs. Palin and supported her. And yet, we do not agree with this move she has made. I, one of her supporters, who likes her, probably will never vote for her, because she didn’t finish her term. She didn’t keep her oath, or her word. When the tough times came, she cut and run.

That is how a supporter sees it.

How in heaven’s name would anyone who didn’t support her to begin with, be convinced to vote for her now? It doesn’t make any sense.

Simple, it's not as important as you, and the media, and the Democrats, and the other current front-runner GOP candidates (who are moderates and threatened by her) WANT it to be.

She very carefully and completely and logically declared why she was resigning from her office.

Furthermore, any attacks Reagan was facing in his 2nd term of being governor PALED in comparison.

She very clearly stated that 80% of her and her staffs time was spent fighting false and scurrilous charges.

I truly doubt your sincerety.

Oh, and for the record, for someone stating that Palin should have stuck in there and kept fighting to be calling my earlier post bullying is quite hypocritical and goes a long way as to explaining my doubt of your sincerity.

Yep. If the "higher calling" is to care for her family, GREAT on her. There is no higher calling for a good woman than to love and nurture her family. Alas, such silly conservative talk is so passe'.

Supporters need to be tougher than what you are displaying. What was it about Palin that first attracted you?

But because I like and respect her so much, I really don’t want her and her family to go through the cruelty the MSM would bring on if she ran for that office.

I believe your concerns were answered in her resignation speech. from Governor Palin’s video address (at 2:04)

“...And finally I polled the most important people in my life, my kids where the count was unanimous.

In response to asking ‘ Hey do you want me to make a positive difference and fight for all our children’s future from outside the governor’s office?’

It was four yeses and one ‘Hell yeah!’

The hell yeah sealed it. And some day I’ll talk about the details of that....”

Thanks, T.

I’ve just had it with the plants, trolls, and doom & gloomers around here.

I’m even having to yank the chains of some otherwise upstanding Freepers, because they’re sliding into agreement with some of the frauds crawling around here.

Sheeeesh.... folks talk about cleaning house in the Republican party. How ‘bout we start in our own online communities first?

If we can’t even clean up THIS house, how on earth are we ever going to clean up Congress?

Yes Quayle was brilliant but, he could not spell potato.

Spelling bees can be disastrous to your political aspirations.

What is he doing these days. Gotta look him up.

Pubbie, the only thing you have provided is evidence that your opinions are not based on factual reality. Including your opinion of me.

Insulting someone of a differing opinion, and making declarative statements will not get Sarah elected as the National spokesperson for PETA anymore than it will get her elected as President of the United States.

Palin is a frickin blight on the Conservative movement. Has nobody noticed how everybody in the Democrat party is drooling over the prospect of Palin running in ‘12?

You know, you are the same guy that says we can get Obama to govern from the center if Conservatives would only support him. That we haven't given Obama a chance.

You are absolutely nuts.

The only way Obama will govern from the center is if he's forced to compromise like the Toon had to after the '94 midterms. Forget the Hyperbole of calling Obama a 'Muslim' or a 'Marxist', Conservatives simply don't like BS like Universal Healthcare, Crap and Tax, Massive Bailout and 'Stimulus' programs. Government takeover of banking, auto manufacturing, healthcare and energy. Are you really expecting any reasonable Conservative to accept these things and give Obama a 'chance' as you put it? If so, it is you who are the 'blight' of the Conservative movement because you are a pretend Conservative. Conservatives don't believe in these things. Palin is opposed to this stuff, like all Real Conservatives and she articulates her message against the destruction of our Republic very well. This is why she's incredibly popular.

Democrats aren't salivating at the prospect of her running for office. Quite the contrary, they hate her as much as we dislike Obama. They feel threatened by her. Palin is the antithesis of everything Liberals think women are or should be. She's successful in every aspect of her life and a good role model. They can't have this Conservative Woman running. As Americans, she appeals to many of our best instincts. Her crowds during the campaign were only matched by Obama himself. If anyone could unite the GOP right now, it is Sarah.

I propose that your purpose in this forum is a self-appointed one: to sow dischord and perpetuate disunity amongst conservatives while claiming to do the opposite, much like Ron Paul 'supporters' were doing during the election.

You are transparent and no one here should take you seriously.

Whoever advised her to make this move is not her friend, but an enemy, looking to get her OUT of the 2012 race.

Yeah, I bet the crowds that come to see her will shrink to nothing.
