Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit
Women of the Web ^ | July 4, 2009 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 07/05/2009 10:17:12 PM PDT by SolidWood

I’m confused by all the confusion among the chattering classes about Palin. I thought her press conference explained it very clearly – though she couldn’t put it precisely this way without sounding vain, but it’s obvious.

Even though she’s just a state governor, she’s a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama). But she basically can’t participate because she’s tethered to the governor’s office up in Alaska. Consequently, she has to fight with one hand tied behind her back and she also can’t go around the country campaigning for candidates and principles she believes in – because she’s governor and would be accused of neglecting the state.

Meanwhile, the Lt. Gov. is a great guy, so she’s leaving the state in good hands and now she can go on to be an even bigger star.

It’s a weird Washington insider perspective to be perplexed by what she’s doing. Contrary to Mark Sanford’s e-mails to his mistress, no one was really impressed with him; 99.99999999999999999% of Americans didn’t know who he was. Who is more influential: Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and Bill O’Reilly, or Tim Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford (before the fall)? As Palin said, God bless people who run for political office, but – and she didn’t say this part – she’s too big to be a lame-duck governor stuck dealing with fishing licenses in Anchorage right now.

She’ll be much bigger now and can play on the national stage without constantly setting off state ethics investigations by loons, parasites and liberals. None of this applied to McCain or Kerry – both of whom went back to the Senate – because their national campaigns diminished them. Palin’s national campaign made her a major star. As she said, she’s not retreating, she’s advancing in another direction.

the older woman who comments on the media ( I can't recall her name) - who was going after Gov. Palin hammer and tongs, just raving about how it was all her fault: she was poorly educated, poorly trained for political office, and Vanity Fair was right. She was so deranged she was almost frothing at the mouth.

Liberals hate her so much. Sarah gets under their skin because she's the real deal - one more reason to back her.

She didn’t keep her oath, or her word.

An oath of office is not a suicide pact. She took the oath to do the best she could for Alaska. And she clearly stated that she thought it wasn't the best for Alaska to spend millions defending against frivolous lawsuits, or have a Governor who spent 80-90% of her time on that defense.

Reagan stood his ground mostly, but compromised on things like immigration. Any politician can only do what's possible, though they can sometimes show us that the conventional view of possible is wrong. I think we'll see that it's possible for her to still have a political career if she wants it.

Who do you have in mind that is more closely aligned to your conservative and perfectionist standards?

There should be a political cartoon of Sarah un lacing some boxing gloves. The gloves would be labeled ‘Alaska’ and ‘Governor’

Palin is a bigger draw than Obama. Palin can fix our economy within months. Drill, baby Drill. National Politics need Sarah Palin. While Obama continues his grotesque apology tour, Palin is ready to drill for oil. Obama is stuck on wallowing in political correctness which all our enemies mock.

yep. only this time there enough out there that just need the GOP as a national structure anymore.

I have pledged to support and promote Sarah in way I can should she decide to run and I don't think she is going to need the RNC.

We, the people of the mind, will rob them of all they hold precious and them with their phallic fantasies and begging for a bottle of political Viagra.

OMG! Ann Coulter on the SCOTUS! That would "cause the blood to shoot from the libtards eyes" (ala Glenn Beck). From this moment until it happens this will be a priority item in every prayer I lift up. Thank you Lord and may it be soon. Maybe there is hope for this country yet. Could you imagine Mark Levin and Ann Coulter on the SCOTUS? It could launch America into another 200 years of greatness instead of the sewer we are heading for now. Please Dear Lord, make it so. Your will be done.

No, Tomas. I am talking about you.

I am of the opinion that Sarah Palin has made the boldest stroke on the political front in my life time. She is taking a bold step. She is not your typical little Barbie girl. She is not your typical anything.

If you wish to take the time, there are a couple of Greta Interviews with Sarah in Alaska. One was before the election, and the other right after. They will take you a couple of hours. They opened my eyes.

I don't watch Greta. I did watch this, where Sarah is the focus, not Greta... I then watched the B4 interviews and was convinced.

Ann is right.

The nay sayers are the ones who do not undrstand so this is for YOU. Being a carror POL right now is like a dead man walking.

You want to know why the DC elites can not take Gov. Palin’s words at face value it’s called Cynicism. I did not realize it ran so deep in this country. I knew it was out there but not like this.

The DC elite miss the whole point. Gov. Palin decision had two parts to it. First the decision not to run for reelection. This point the DC elite can understand; but not the second decision, because it was a ethical one. This is where the cynicism kicks in for the DC elite. God forbid a politician have a ethical core it just unheard of now and days. Gov. Palin has a ethical core which makes the stepping down all the better for her in the long run. I would not what to be T-Paw and have to answer this question. Why are you still on the “public dime” when you announced you won’t seek reelection? When Gov. Palin took her shot at Pols I think she had T-Paw in mind just as much as O. With the state of politics where they are who do you think is going to win this argument. T-Paw or Gov. Palin. Any Pol who is doing what T-Paw is doing or what Mittens did will look like a fool. I have a feeling more will side with Gov. Palin I know i Do.

> Sarah Palin is a great American. She stands for the Right things....she has yet to prove she can articulate and convince folks of them.

Spot on.

> Whenever she speaks in the future it will be in the shadow of that disorderly political pull out. People are going to say, “Why should we listen to someone who couldn’t take the heat”?

This is what worries me. Sarah quit during a partial term as Governor for the 47th least populous state in the union. She has basically torpedoed any chance of running for office in her home state, and any run for national office will have people looking at her resume.

Which is looking as thin as Zer0’s right now, honestly.

Now, if Sarah’s going for the pundit route, she will be able to do that handily. Who knows, maybe that’s where she prefers to be! Maybe it would be a better fit for her and her family. But she has damaged herself politically, and for this I am very sad. Because Sarah is a Reagan in the rough.

Would I be happy to be proven wrong about Sarah’s political future? You bet I would. But to me it doesn’t look good, folks.

Yeah.

I would have wanted a Governor Palin or a Senator Palin - not an ex Governor Palin to carry the ball in the future. Sounds too much like Romney's status for my liking.

Basically I would have liked her to be a rip roaring VERY VOCAL very Beautiful, gun toting Bible clinging very physically fit Governor from Alaska..............................................................the Biggest State, one of the most Important States, an Energy Vital State, a Strategically Located State, a financially secure State. She would have had all of these Credentials.

Instead she will be a rip roaring very vocal Governor... ...who quit, in the middle of the job, to do something else, that would help America more.
Time will tell.

but the worst thing about what Sarah Palin has done is that

it does NOT ESTABLISH A GOOD PRECEDENCE.

Otherwise our folks will start running away from public office at the first sign of some easily constructed left wing frivolous crap, with the excuse that Palin did it so it must be the RIGHT OK thing to do!

Hell, what happens when they hit you with real serious charges? Argentinian Appalachian Trail Adventure?

I mean Reagan was shot in his left armpit, the bullet grazing a rib and lodging in his lung! stopping nearly an inch from his heart! AT THE AGE OF 70! SEVENTY... and he didn't quit, didn't resign or vacation or any other kind of crap. He continued SEVEN MORE YEARS.

HE SHOWED LEADERSHIP based on HONOR COURAGE AND COMMITMENT......its time we again start clinging to those things as well.
