Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit
Women of the Web ^ | July 4, 2009 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 07/05/2009 10:17:12 PM PDT by SolidWood

I’m confused by all the confusion among the chattering classes about Palin. I thought her press conference explained it very clearly – though she couldn’t put it precisely this way without sounding vain, but it’s obvious.

Even though she’s just a state governor, she’s a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama). But she basically can’t participate because she’s tethered to the governor’s office up in Alaska. Consequently, she has to fight with one hand tied behind her back and she also can’t go around the country campaigning for candidates and principles she believes in – because she’s governor and would be accused of neglecting the state.

Meanwhile, the Lt. Gov. is a great guy, so she’s leaving the state in good hands and now she can go on to be an even bigger star.

It’s a weird Washington insider perspective to be perplexed by what she’s doing. Contrary to Mark Sanford’s e-mails to his mistress, no one was really impressed with him; 99.99999999999999999% of Americans didn’t know who he was. Who is more influential: Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and Bill O’Reilly, or Tim Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford (before the fall)? As Palin said, God bless people who run for political office, but – and she didn’t say this part – she’s too big to be a lame-duck governor stuck dealing with fishing licenses in Anchorage right now.

She’ll be much bigger now and can play on the national stage without constantly setting off state ethics investigations by loons, parasites and liberals. None of this applied to McCain or Kerry – both of whom went back to the Senate – because their national campaigns diminished them. Palin’s national campaign made her a major star. As she said, she’s not retreating, she’s advancing in another direction.

Exactly. It’s not enough to just believe in the right things, you have to be a leader. And so far with Palin, I just don’t see it.

The sad thing aobut the GOP today is that the good ones bail (Palin), while the undesirable ones (Larry Craig, Ted Stevens) insist on staying until they get booted out.

You're posting to a glowing crater.

Love that imagery.

Thanks. It became rather obvious that he was a troll due to the pattern of his comments.

Yep. Palin needs to take a cue from George Bush and do a 180 on this, just like Bush did on that dumb Supreme Court nomination he put up way back when.

Just say ....”After speaking to a few Marines, and remembering Ronald Reagans Corps Values (heheh) I will tough it out, I will stand and fight and We will win”.

or something like that.

Wind, what say your instincts? Methinks Tucker is overdoing the doom-and-gloom...

Of that, there is no doubt.

Tuck, I suggest you just read the thoughts and analysis of others for a day or two without commenting.

If you're as upset with Sarah as you say, this will allow you to get your breath back, and still your mind, while looking at what Sarah's done through the eyes of others who see the brilliance in her strategy.

If you love Sarah as much as you've indicated, then give her the benefit of the doubt while you weigh and analyze the comments of others.

As another poster said, it would be nuts for Sarah to reveal her entire reasoning for leaving office now. The drive-by media would simply begin blowing up the road in front of her.

EX-cellent troll kill, dude. Well done. God, that's good medicine!

Thank you. It was very good medicine for me, too.

No, the sad thing about the GOP (officials,pundits & voters), is that they are afraid and immobile in any efforts to defend their own.

Palin could have been helped financially, and politically by the GOP, they could have mentored her and given her a communication apparatus.

They refused. The GOP establishment in DC and the GOP NY media wanted to be rid of her....they watched her and her family be savaged by the left and did nothing.

Fred Thompson would be great as a national leader.

He's old (67 next month) and getting older. Would be 70 in '12 and 74 in '16. And, he has health issues. Plus, he's a foot dragger. Do we want to go through all THAT again?

If by some miracle conservative Republicans regain power in the House, I have a nice long list of rules I'd like to see enacted:

* Full length of bills limited to 5 printed pages, typed in 14-point double-spaced Times New Roman, Segoe UI, or Lucida Grande font;
* Amendments to bills limited to 1 page with the same typeset requirements as full bills;
* A header on each bill and amendment citing the specific Article, Section, and Clause of the US Constitution which justifies the legality of the provisions inside that bill and amendment;
* Bills and amendments must be submitted to the Speaker in person by all of the co-sponsors of the bill or amendment, identified by voice and signature on the bill or amendment;
* Bills and amendments can only be submitted during normal session with a quorum;
* Bills cannot be voted on for 7 days after their submission, plus 2 days for each amendment to the bill, with an exception for emergency acts such as declarations of war;
* Reading of bills and amendments to a normal session with quorum is mandatory before voting is scheduled;
* Full text of all bills and amendments must be placed on the Internet in searchable DOC, PDF, and ODF formats on the same day as their acceptance by the House Speaker;

Just reading those proposed new rules lifts my spirit. This is the type of change that America actually needs. Not Bozo's brand, which is only further enslavement.

Save those, if you will, T. They need to be communicated to the coming Republican party revolutionaries. I'd like to see a re-invigorated right, push for these congressional reforms.

“....”After speaking to a few Marines, and remembering Ronald Reagans Corps Values (heheh) I will tough it out, I will stand and fight and We will win”.”

Quit attempting to compare Palin to a legendary Reagan mythology that doesn’t exist. Reagan was a great President but he had his political faults as well.

Palin is doing what is required of her to continue her political career. She is the ONLY asset the gOP has. The only person capable of raising money and crowds for GOP midterm candidates.

"....we need the very few conservative and America loving rich people to buy media.....local, and national...."

First, these deep pockets need to get behind the campaign to get the usurper's schooling, bar application, passport,student loans, employment and birth records.

The bastard is now in Russia dismantling America's weapon system, as I write this post.

Trouble is, the usurper is likely an illegal alien, given his expenditure of hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep his records hidden from view by American Citizens.

Why is his occupation of our White House allowed??? He holds the post of commander-in-chief of our armed forces - issuing orders putting our military in harms way.

This illegal alien now runs America's financial institutions, auto and auto supplier industry, education system, defense contract allocations, AND THE 2010 CENSUS, which will likely include non-citizens in their count - corrupting the legitimacy of our voting system!!!

Make "....the very few conservative and America loving rich people...." take a page from those who signed the Declaration of Independence!!! This would be the REAL test of their alleged patriotic resolve!!!

Name 50 people who will stake their fortune to save America, and if you cn name 50 people, why have they sat on their hands so far???

For almost a year, she AND her YOUNG children were savaged and brutalized by the MSM/DNC/Hollywood and eventually were murdered.

And NO one in her party helped her, defended her, or gave her any aid whatsoever.

And now you are stomping on her corpse?

Typical GOP behavior.

Much of the conservative base that should have supported Fred, instead supported a faux conservative huckster.

And McCain.

She can take it, and so can her family.

SHE may be able to take it, but her family can't. The Libs are now attacking Baby Trig!
