Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit
Women of the Web ^ | July 4, 2009 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 07/05/2009 10:17:12 PM PDT by SolidWood

I’m confused by all the confusion among the chattering classes about Palin. I thought her press conference explained it very clearly – though she couldn’t put it precisely this way without sounding vain, but it’s obvious.

Even though she’s just a state governor, she’s a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama). But she basically can’t participate because she’s tethered to the governor’s office up in Alaska. Consequently, she has to fight with one hand tied behind her back and she also can’t go around the country campaigning for candidates and principles she believes in – because she’s governor and would be accused of neglecting the state.

Meanwhile, the Lt. Gov. is a great guy, so she’s leaving the state in good hands and now she can go on to be an even bigger star.

It’s a weird Washington insider perspective to be perplexed by what she’s doing. Contrary to Mark Sanford’s e-mails to his mistress, no one was really impressed with him; 99.99999999999999999% of Americans didn’t know who he was. Who is more influential: Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and Bill O’Reilly, or Tim Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford (before the fall)? As Palin said, God bless people who run for political office, but – and she didn’t say this part – she’s too big to be a lame-duck governor stuck dealing with fishing licenses in Anchorage right now.

She’ll be much bigger now and can play on the national stage without constantly setting off state ethics investigations by loons, parasites and liberals. None of this applied to McCain or Kerry – both of whom went back to the Senate – because their national campaigns diminished them. Palin’s national campaign made her a major star. As she said, she’s not retreating, she’s advancing in another direction.

If you can’t fight off jive attacks with the power of the Governorship, how less so without that power. Time will tell.

If she thinks she is being attacked now, she needs to know it is much worse when you live on Pennslyvania Ave, and you just go and resign from that when it gets nasty.

Hell, she did a wonderful job. She gave McCain political CPR. But she will have to take the lipstick off now.... if she wants to start chewing up obambi in 2012.

Annie, I love ya.

People who don't get that entire paragraph are just not paying attention.

That’s “Occam” my misinformed correspondent.

And gag me with a spoon. I don’t care what Miss Coulter has to say, Palin is a frickin blight on the Conservative movement. Has nobody noticed how everybody in the Democrat party is drooling over the prospect of Palin running in ‘12? Gimme a break. I say go back to Alaska, Sarah, and take care of business. She is a pathological liar and about the most calculating personalitiy to take the national stage in memory. This latest move is obviously a grab for money, and I mean hers. I will be very surprised if she attempts to raise funds for anybody except her family.

...had a wonderful thought, President Palin putting Ann on the Supreme Court. :)

Wouldn't Press Secretary suit her better? I think the DBM would be too scared to even show up at WH press conferences! LOL

I would have agreed with you, until she made this announcement.

I believe that this move on her part, would be the death nell to any national campaign! She has just ended her career!

She couldn’t even finish ONE term! Why in the world would anyone vote for her as President, when she has so little experience, and she quit the governor’s job, which was hardly even started! She has let down the people of Alaska; she has let me down. She has broken her oath of office....she is a quitter. She is putting her own ambition before the duties she pledged to complete.

Oh how I wish she would reconsider. Change her mind! Finish what she started. Stick with it. This action goes against everything she has ever said she stood for.

She is finished in politics.

Whoever advised her to make this move is not her friend, but an enemy, looking to get her OUT of the 2012 race.

She can make turns with Rush. Or joint pressers. LOL!

Yeah, I remember when Danny was on the space committee. He wanted to send a satellite to orbit the sun. Informed that it would be too dangerous, he suggested performing the mission at night.

Amiable yes. Dunce? Only if you believe a false stereotype.

You’re talking about the governor who had a budget surplus and has fought and even cut taxes.

Two for one special with this one - Ann and Sarah!

Let me know if you'd like to be added to the Ann Coulter ping list.

Press secretary would be good, Ann could annoy the press every morning at the briefings BUT as a Supreme Court Justice, she could annoy liberals for decades! Maybe even drive some of them to an early demise! lol

I guess Governor of Alaska isn't as important a job as it was during the election. I know it's not the popular thing to say, but I think Palin should have stayed and continued to be the best Governor in America.

Just watched Ann Coulter defending Sarah Palin on FOX and had a wonderful thought, President Palin putting Ann on the Supreme Court. :)

We'd better get the Senate back, then...it would have to be a complete flip, in order to make it a potential filibuster-proof Senate.

Sorry, but I find your opinion just plain wrong.

She explained herself quite well even mentioning that 80% of her time was fighting off false charges (and winning all of them) and that it was costing both the State of Alaska and her family many millions of dollars.

She, if you had bothered to listen to her resignation speech, made it quite clear that she was not quiting or sitting down but basically she was going to keep fighting and was looking for (My paraphrasing) a higher office or more important thing to do.

Next time, you might want to listen to the related speech and get all the details before you post your opinion.

She very successfully fought off all of the attacks, both those from public figures like Letterman and those from pricks who tried to tie her up legally with false charges.

She has fought all along and NOTHING in her speech or her previous actions would provide you or anyone else with the idea that she was giving up or could be construed as showing her as weak.

Nice try, quit being a tool of the Democrats, the Media, and GOP elite.
