What I find so upsetting is that in her position she should be able to call upon a trusted friend to help her with appropriate fashion choices.

Also, in the line of culture, that you mentioned, comes appropriate manners, graciousness, protocol, body positioning (walking appropriately, stance, etc.)—these are learned activities! Is she not capable of understanding or will she not accept a few lessons in those areas? By not attempting to improve in these areas, she is doing a disservice to the country as well as herself.

Am I missing something here???? Over and over, we’re told how she’s such a glamourous “beauty.”

I received a complimentary year's subscription to Glamour magazine due to some purchase or other from Amazon, ordinarily wouldn't be bothered, but it's okay *waste-of-time* material. Every issue has some note in it about how Michelle is "oh so glam", in the Q&A in the latest, some dingy woman writes, "Michelle 0bama always looks so put-together, any tips?" I shake my head at all of it -- are any of these people actually LOOKING at her, the photos I see??!! GLAMOUR?

I'm not with the program, either ... thank goodness!!

If you look at the photos at the Yahoo source there are two of Svetlana Medvedev—# 15 and 33. She certainly looks like a very conservative demure person. Also there is another of MO taken from the side in that terrible thing she wore on the 4th which someone on FR described as a sports bra attached to a pillow case. There is no mistaking the weight gain there. I’m surprised she didn’t wear her black or clear belt with that one because it actually would have matched the dress and could have been worn right where she likes it. Maybe she wears them so high up because she paid a small fortune for them and they no longer fit if she puts them at waist level.

I wouldn't care what she looked like if the media didn't keep feeding us these absurd "most beautiful" stories. She's a typical middle-aged black lady. Not ugly; not beautiful.

The difference being Mrs. Bush did not pretend to be a fashionista, nor did the state run media attempt to portray Mrs. Bush as a fashionista.

Mrs. Obama is a dumpy middle-aged black lady with a big rear end. The media needs to stop telling us she is “one of the sexiest women in the world.” (Seriously, Mrs. Obama was in Maxim, heavily air-brushed.)

Exactly right. I liked Mrs. Bush. She dressed appropriately for her age and position as First Lady. She was mature, kind and gracious. In short, an exceptional First Lady.

Mrs. Obama is an embarrassment, the least of which is her bizarre and immature taste in fashion.

That said - Michelle's obviously a loving mother and wife - she brings a warm family type joy to the White House.

There’s a show my daughter watches on TV sometimes where a couple folks come in and dump your wardrobe and start from scratch giving helpful tips along the way.

Here's what I'm wondering ... where is the WH assistant who helps the First Lady chose her wardrobe, not just the purchase but the actual "What am I wearing today?" gal who knows the schedule of events?? Hillary Clinton no means a dish nor a clothes-horse, but she was generally outfitted appropriate to the occasion. It wasn't until she headed for the Senate that she began the pantsuit-and-only-this-pantsuit wardrobe.

It's like the gaffes from the State Department, has Michelle 0bama foregone the Letitia Baldridges of the world?? If she is choosing her wardrobe herself, she has poor taste and style and really, puffing it up this way, insisting that she's stunning, glamorous, gorgeous and all the rest doesn't help her one bit. Better to have someone who is honest and helpful, especially when she is in the public eye, light so often.

Unsurprising, really. If you reject capitalism and democracy, the premises upon which this nation was founded, chances are you're not going to be on board with our social norms either. Very common in leftists.
