Obama: We have reset U.S.-Russia relations @ 12:18 pm by Jeremy P. Jacobs
President Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev touted the results of the first day of their summit in Moscow at a press conference on Monday.
Both presidents complimented the others' "business-like" approach to the summit and both appeared pleased with the agreements that came out of the first day.
Obama said at the beginning at that shortly after taking office they "resolved to reset U.S.-Russian relations."
"Today, after less than six months," he went on, "we have done exactly that."
In particular, Obama touted the summit's agreements on nuclear proliferation Obama said he hopes to reduce the the U.S. and Russia's nuclear arsenal by about a third.
The press conference did not go off flawlessly, however. Obama stumbled slightly over the pronunciation of Medvedev's name at the beginning of the press conference, though he recovered quickly. The U.S. president also sidestepped a question about who is leading Russia, Medvedev or former president and current prime minister Vladmir Putin. Obama said he trusts Medvedev but said that Medvedev and Putin appear to be "working very well together."
Medvedev characterized the first day of talks as "very open and sincere." He also said that Russia and the U.S. has "many points of convergence and many points of mutual interest."
The Russian president also said that the two leaders discussed Afghanistan at length, as well as developments in the Middle East. Obama added later that they also had conversations about relations with North Korea and Iran.
"On the whole, characterizing the first day of work," Medvedev said, "I would like to say that I view them as the first and very important step in the process of improving full scale cooperation between our two countries."
I seem to recall some statements along that line.

Now Obama. How many have traveled to the US. From what I recall, not too many. It's either they don't want to come to the "mountain" or the "mountain" wants to do the traveling so he can get neat trips on that cool aeroplane and visit the world.
Just how many frequent flyer miles has he wracked up so far in just 6-7 months?
If the Russians DO downsize their arsenal, what are the odds that some of the materials will be spirited out of the nation to foreign powers hostile to the West?

Schwing.....look y’all, I waved my magic wand and the Russians have magically changed their lying, deceitful ways.

I know that that is the REAL reason why they oppose missile defense, but I’m wondering how they (or even IF they) attempt to couch their intent in politically acceptable language. To have a known enemy say “we don’t want you to be able to defend yourself so that, if we choose to do so, we will have the ability to wipe you out without consequence,” doesn’t sound very snuggly.
Of all the problems in the world today, the number of nuclear weapons we and the Russians have isn’t ON THE RADAR. Nobody cares anymore, we know we aren’t going to launch ours, and Russia isn’t likely to launch theirs.
Obama is living in the past, trying to solve a non-existant problem from the 70s that Reagan already took care of in the 80s.
What’s next, is he going to solve the problem of the Warsaw Pact expansion?

He’s in a job that’s far above his paygrade.

Isn’t resetting something what you do when you want to turn it back into the way it was?
Again he shows his shame at being an American.
Why wouldn’t two people seeking the same goal, Communist domination of the world, agree to that? All they need do is hide the truth from the rest of us.
As usual, we will reduce our arsenal and the Russians will just pretend to do the same just in case we are able to elect a pro-American again.
Probably apologized for our role in the cold war, for standing in the way of the soviets instead of helping them.
Why would Obama consent to meet with the No.2 guy in Russia?
