Steve King was the darling of FreeRepublic when he endorsed Fred Thompson last year. And seriously he has been a strong conservative on a number of issues of importance to us.
But nowadays, if you cross the cultists, you will be brutally attacked.
He is wrong about ethanol, but he is from Iowa, and it is nearly political suicide to oppose ethanol in Iowa. A Presidential candidate might pull it off, but not a candidate from the state.
That is the key, can Palin increase her support above the 35% margin who thought she was qualified to be President.
As a Senator or a Congressman, I don’t think it’s your position to make public statements about potential presidential candidates at this juncture.
It’s not really about who the final candidate will be. It’s about keeping your options open.
He may not like Palin. That’s fine. It’s still not the time for this type of talk. In the late fall of 2011 and the spring of 2012, people will be chosing up sides and announcing who they’ll support.
At that time it will be appropriate. A lot can happen in two and a half years, and this guy should keep his yap shut to see how things play out.
If he’s another RINO, then lets boot his ass to the curb now. And since Conservatives would do what he has done, then I’m let with no other conclusions than that he should lose the support of the party. End of story.
Make that...
...conservatves would NOT do...
Glad to hear it. So, why the negativity from his corner?
I corrected that mistaken identity in post #48. Keep your shirt on there Bunky.
The negativity towards Palin is all coming from “elitists”.
Party makes no difference, there are just more of them in the ‘rat party than in the GOP.
This hero worship of Sarah Palin going on here on FR is childlike. I like her, too, but she is human and she is not the only person who can do the job.
My thoughts, exactly. Anyone here taking pot shots at Steve King is full of sh*t.
WHO is Steve King??? He must be JEALOUS!
Actually, #48 indicates you meant to say Steve[n] instead of Pete.
#47 was correct. Pete is the lib. Steve is every bit as conservative as everybody's sweetheart (Mrs. Palin).
Proof positive that he, like most politicians, is ALSO out of touch.
LOL. What do you think Rep. King would say if Palin offered to come and campaign for him in the fall?
That RINO, Steve King is on CSPAN right now about ethics. Many comments about King on this thread are down right stupid. It proves we have a whole bunch of Freepers who don’t have a clue. They shoot off their mouths not knowing what they’re talking about.
“I like her, too, but she is human and she is not the only person who can do the job.”
I really like you, CGGrandma and respect your opinions, but we are STARVED for leadership...especially those of us that HAVE leadership qualities; it’s doubly frustrating that we don’t have the cash or whatever it takes to make more of a difference right this minute.
I’m retiring in a few years and you can count on me to have my hand, heart and face all OVER local politics here in Wisconsin! Between now and then I, like Sarah, need to make some cash and keep my own house in order before I can launch anything bigger.
Give me a list of ten men or women who could turn the GOP around and I’ll stop publicly cheering for Sarah from the sidelines. Give me some HOPE! :)
How about turning on CSPAN right now and see a real leader, Congressman Steve King.
You’ve got the wrong “King”
It was Steve King of Iowa not Peter King of N.Y.
I don’t know his record.
But I’d say after his comment re: Palin that he is not very poltically astute.
