I know... I was speaking generally ... should have made that clear. Any conservative candidate who may want Sarah to campaign for him/her should sound positive right now ... “I don’t know what her future holds but I would welcome her support in my own campaign and would offer my support to her should she need it.”

Jeez, I don't know what her plans are. Or what's going to happen. And, y'know, you don't either.

But your assessment sounds like the conventional wisdom about Richard Nixon after he was defeated in his run for governor of California in 1962.

And what happened after that...??? Wasn't Nixon elected President in 1968? And re-elected in 1972?

Kinda makes those espousing conventional wisdom sound kinda stupid, doesn't it?

A conservative GOP Rep? C'mon, it's a RINO.

In 1962, after losing the race for the Presidency and losing the race for the governorship of California, 6 years later, Richard Nixon won the campaign for President.

So, this idea that no one can comeback is wrong.

King has always had his finger in the political winds, he doen't have any real opinions, they're formed by the polls. I'll never forget his defense of Bill Clinton.

I think you're thinking of Peter King (R-NY). This is Steve King (R-IA). He's as strong a conservative as there is in the US House.

This is ridiculous. Steve King is not one with his finger in the wind. He's as conservative as you're going to get. You don't know the whole context in which this was taken. King never said he didn't want her to make a comeback.

King has excellent political instincts. He doesn't know any more than any one else if she'll make a comeback and he says so but he doubts it.

Steve King wasn’t elected to Congress until 2002.

Steve King is a long way from a RINO and he has no reason to be skeered of her.

Yes, thanks, we figured out that we were speaking about the wrong Congressman King a couple of hours ago.

This is STEVE King—not Peter King.

Thank you, hawkeye101. This people all jump to conclusions. This shows why we’re in the trouble we’re in. Conservatives don’t bother to investigate before they act, either.

If you think Steve King is a RINO, you’re a dodo bird.

Steve King wasn’t around when Clinton was around. What are you referring to? And despite the headlines’ spin, King explicitly stated that she’s entirely capable of pulling it off.

Are you thinking of Rep. Peter King (R-NY), whose political views are very hard to fathom?

Wrong King. Steve King is not a RINO, and despite the words the headline sticks into his mouth, he actually said she could be capable of a brilliant comeback strategy.

Make it DeMint/Hunter, and I’m on board.

(although I’m trying to resist getting attached to any 2012 prospects until the 2010 elections are over).

He was considered quite conservative last year when he endorsed Fred Thompson for President. He is strongly pro-life, opposes gay marriage, and is a strong advocate for gun rights.

That doesn’t mean he can’t be wrong about Sarah, but it is sad to see the cultists claiming everybody who disagrees with them must be liberals.
