J.Crew is using Sasha and Malia Obama to market some of its spring and summer styles, in a press release sent ...

... to reporters Monday afternoon titled "The Obama Girls Bring Some American Style to Moscow."

"Malia & Sasha wore J.Crew and crewcuts as they exited Air Fore One in Moscow — stylish in their trenches, they also accessorized with ballet flat shoes," the release says.

The notice includes two photographs of Sasha and Malia deplaning Air Force One with their parents and an image of the J.Crew logo.

I banned JCrew from my “places to shop” earlier this year because of their gushing over Michele Obama. I’m just not interested in supporting them anymore.

Now that the first daughters are commercial sales objects, does this mean they are fair game for comments?

Outrageous...

JCrew is banking on liberal bucks to save them from all of the Conservative boycotts they are about to get.

It is off my list as well for the same reason and if it wasn’t already off my list, it would be now.

Oh, don’t pick on them, they’re only kids and the least politically exploited part of the Obama family.

I hope the Obama’s are paying for the clothes and are not getting them for free simply so that J. Crew can do advertising.

I don’t hope they fail, it’s a darn sight better than the trailer trash lines inspired by Britney or the drug tramp line by those twins that were child stars on “Full House”.

I appreciate that the Obama girls are dressed as modest little girls and not wannabe rock stars. It’s a huge influence on the fashion industry which is quick to sense the opportunity to make a buck and a relief to those of us with daughters who are desperate for modest clothing for them.

This is disturbing on many levels. I see conflicts of interest, potential for corruption, etc. Then there’s the hypocracy of renting the children out to “big business” for publicity purposes.

Just damn!

I’d shun JCrew just because they’re in bad taste. But I don’t see why conservatives should drag the kids into the political fight as long as the liberals don’t. When and if, like Jimmy Carter did, their dad consults them absurdly on something like nuclear weapons policy, then we can go for the jugular.

From the article: [The press release marks one of the few times the Obama girls, whose public appearances the president and first lady keep tightly controlled, have been highlighted in a marketing campaign to sell specific products or labels.

Earlier this year, the first lady smacked down the company that makes Beanie Babies for modeling two new dolls after her daughters: Sweet Sasha and Marvelous Malia.

"We believe it is inappropriate to use young, private citizens for marketing purposes," Michelle Obama's spokeswoman said in a statement at the time, and the company pulled them from the shelves.]

So which is it, Michelle?

I watched that little video at the link sans sound. Oh.my.gosh. They are the Clumps! They all come clumping down those stairs. Someone needs to show them all how to make a graceful exit/entrance.

I’d much sooner see them in an Oprah-etta than as political spokesthings.

No. According to the MSM and liberals, only the children of republicans are fair game for comments.

HUMM!!!! Sounds like J. Crew paid someone off when Ty (the maker of Beanie Babies) referenced the famous girls gratis. In the meantime, Barack himself votes present, as usual.

Much ridicule should go to the so called adults in this picture.

I noticed the very same thing, indubitably. Michelle walked down the stairs like a wrestler. It stood out like a sore thumb.

First, I’m killing any of my company’s corporate apparel orders from J Crew.

Second, by the standards applied to Sarah Palin, this is ripe for an ethics charge.

And they are now DUCKING the issue:

Also from the article: [The first lady's office did not immediately respond to an e-mail asking if Michelle Obama had approved the marketing materials. Heather Lynch McAuliffe, the vice president of J.Crew public relations, said the White House did not approve the release before she sent it.]

I believe that Michelle approved the marketing materials, but possibly did not approve of releasing that particular releasing release...release. LOL. This should be interesting.
