Michael Jackson's memorial was not our proudest moment
Los Angeles Times ^ | 07/08/09 | Steve Lopez

I got to Staples Center some time after the parade of Ringling Bros. elephants and just before a bikini-clad woman who held aloft a sign that said, "Go Vegetarian for the Man in the Mirror." I suppose it goes without saying that not all memorial services draw the same crowd.

Speaking of crowds, this one was way smaller than the city had planned for. There were hundreds of people on the street rather than hundreds of thousands, which means that a few million tax dollars were spent to have police officers stand around with their arms folded....

maybe the only proper tribute is to launch that casket into space. Then, no matter where you are in the world, he'll be in the heavens above, moonwalking into eternity.

What a celebration for a pervert who doesn't have a single song in Billboard's all-time top 50.

Elephants and “bikini-clad” vegetarians are always a nice touch for funerals.

The entire thing was a disgusting “money making” absurdity.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a big public funeral/ memorial that could be described as that culture’s proudest moment. It’s one of those things that the bigger they get the more they turn into pagan idolatry and bad craziness.

“We were drinking some champagne after he died and said we need to do something,”

Perhaps ‘Jesus Juice’ would have been a more appropriate Beverage.

I can’t wait till everyone stops talking about this guy. Yes, it’s always sad when someone dies (most of the time), but for Pete’s sake... HE’S DEAD, GET OVER IT AMERICA! All those idiots who were at his funeral and crying hysterical like they were his best friends need to get a damn life!

Is that true?

This was a Sharpton, Jesse Jerkson show. The hustler brothers, as opposed to the Justice Bros, neither a real Rev.

Not only was it a worship service of the unforgiven of a tragic and empty and corrupt man, it completely ignored the fact that the man was an unconvicted pedophile.
The western nations have gone mad and the secular humanists are the most ignorant and violent people on the earth as well as the most deluded and deceived.

Q: Why is California like a bowl of granola?

A: Because what's not nuts and fruits is flakes.

His top song, Billie Jean, checks in at #71.

Jiaoyu Duan came all the way from China to stand a block from Staples Center with a sign...

And I thought Americans were a little screwed up.

It was more of a concert than a memorial, more of a circus than a wake, more of a freak show than a somber and sober reflection. And where the heck was Oprah?
