Ellen Goodman: Palin the pretender
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette / The Boston Globe ^ | July 9, 2009 | Ellen Goodman

Posted on 07/09/2009 12:36:42 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

My guess is that she really doesn't know what she wants, or who she really is.

It's probably dangerous to admit to a moment of empathy. I'll either get disqualified from ever becoming being a Supreme Court justice or asked to turn in my press card. But after watching reruns of Gov. Sarah Palin's resignation from the governorship, after hearing every grammatically challenged sentence and inconsistent paragraph dissected by some talk show host, I started to (blush) feel her pain.

There was the frozen smile, the vulnerability, the odd grab bag of unfiltered, unedited, unintelligible un-reasons scattered across the lawn. Ms. Palin quit to avoid being a quitter. She cut and run as an act of self-sacrifice. She left her job to serve her country.

It wasn't like watching a car wreck. It was like watching a midlife meltdown. It was seeing her self-image as a strong, confident, ambitious woman shaken to the core. All that was holding her together was chewing gum, family and a little righteous anger.

What had happened to Sarah the Barracuda? The pit bull with lipstick?

The mother of five, moose killer and marathoner who juggled a BlackBerry and a breast pump?

Ten months ago, when John McCain picked her as his running mate, it was like starting a middle-school basketball star in the WNBA. No, the NBA.

As governor, she once remarked about an opponent's ability to spout off facts and figures, "Does any of this really matter?" As running mate, a McCain aide said, she doesn't even know what she doesn't know.

I was among those who harbored the "elitist" belief that a vice presidential candidate should know as much about public policy as, say, Katie Couric.(continued)

They sure do spend a lot of time on someone they think isn’t worth the time of day.

Intellectual dishonesty at its finest. The left thrives on it.

Ellen is an ignorant, old, ugly scumbag.

Sarah Palin is just the kind of quitter the United States needs for a leader:

Someone who will quit taxing the people and the economy into the abyss.

Someone who will quit trampling our constitutional rights, and quit trashing the Constitution with bureaucratic monstronsities.

Someone who will quit selling out our citizens to foreign nations, many of whom do not like us much.

Feel free to add to the list of stuff Sarah could help us QUIT.

When has the media ever challenged Obama's speeches. Palin speech was better than most of Obama's. You want inconsistancy, just look at Obama's pledge not to raise taxes one dime on the middle class, you roll out tax after tax after tax all of which hit the middle class. Obama is like Mr. Read My Lips Bush on steroids.

Yeah, I agree with ya, 2DV. The women self-haters are there in abundance.

I just wonder why you didn’t put a “Hurl” alert up on the title. :)

I still think Sarah ought to retire from politics....
And become a professional cage match fighter.....

Tour the nation fighting grudge matches with all these leftist and pseudo-conservatives that are so insanely full of hate for her.

Man, I would pay good money to see that.

"Why isn't she happy?"

Because the socialist paradise Ellen and her nasty ilk have been chasing for 250 years, is unattainable.

Too bad that the graveyards and burial pits around the world, filled with socialism's victims, aren't enough to make these amoralists give up the demon's dream of affecting paradise on earth.

Who's got the frozen smile Ellen?

..and the Kennedy-esque booze soaked complexion, the bloodshot eyes, and snaggle toothed grin? Bitch.

Wow. As an unfortunate conservative male living in the bluest state in the USA, I have been subjected to having to see, hear and read her against my will.

The problem with Ellen Goodman is not that she doesn’t know what she wants (although liberals like her are famously unable to admit projection is a staple of liberalism) The problem is that she thinks she does know what she wants and can’t view things objectively.

Well, the Boston Fishwrap is on its way out, so...she will have to find some other avenue to distribute her screeds.

I have always said, liberals will always tell you exactly what they think, if only you have the intestinal fortitude and infinite patience to sit there and wait for the window to open. Like liars who don't realize that telling lies forever without getting caught is impossible because you have to remember all the ones you told beforehand, they eventually slip up.

I particularly like the scare quotes around "elitist". That's rich!

Granted, it would explain a lot about what we see in liberal politics, but I am concerned that we have probably the stupidest, flakiest politician ever to hold the vice presidency sitting second in line behind a man who is soon going to be one of the most reviled public figures in American history.

Deranged fear and dread grips the Left. Hee hee hee.

Winning ticket for 2012: Palin / Cheney (Liz, that is).

Yeah I knew she was still around because our local rag carries one of her rants each week. I use it to cover the table when I clean my firearms or to line the bird cage. I wish she and that other witch, Dowd, parents had decided to abort them so they would not be around to spew their pro baby death rants and other liberal clap trap.

“Have you noticed that the charge against Governor Palin has been led by these 60-something “womyn” that not only hate her politics and beliefs, but are jealous of her looks, vitality, children and husband?”

Women are the most vicious, and liberal women are even worse.
