White House denies manufacturer's boast that First Lady carried their $5,950 bag
Daily News ^ | 7/9/2009 | DAILY NEWS STAFF

Posted on 07/09/2009 7:49:28 AM PDT by NMEwithin

Is First Lady Michelle Obama sporting a taste for ultra-expensive fashion pieces, or is she cementing her status as a savvy shopper? Back in April she wore a pair of $540 Lanvin sneakers at a Washington food bank. Earlier this week (while strolling the wooded landscape outside of Moscow), she carried a sexy black clutch, which Italian luxury house VBH boasts is their shiny black alligator manila bag – with a retail sticker price of $5,950. The White House flatly denies that Obama bought such a high-priced accessory, and says that she was carrying a patent clutch that retails for $875. The First Lady, who has impressed with her chic, affordable style sense, embracing Everywoman brands like Gap and J.Crew, flashed the shiny handheld while walking with her husband, President Barack Obama, during their Monday meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his wife Svetlana. Told that Obama's office denied the bag was the high-end VBH clutch, Kelly Vitko, a rep for the company replied, "It’s definitely ours."

How can $875 clutch purse and affordable be stated in the same sentence?

Michelle Obama is not one for the obvious when it comes to fashion. She is understated and tasteful so appropriately, she shows up in New York in a VBH Ballerina Clutch in Colbalt Blue Satin ($1500). She contrasts her LBD with this bright clutch that totally pops. Who knew she was such a Bag Snob? I mean, only those in the know can appreciate what VBH is all about - quality, simplicity and subtlety but oh-so stylish!

Michelle ‘Antoinette’ Obama is displaying the same utter lack of regard for the ‘people’ that her namesake Marie Antoinette did in France.

Their is a smoldering anger building against the new ‘royalty’ that inhabits the White House. The Obama’s are so tone deaf they don’t realize what is happening in the real USA. I think it will not be too long before even they will see what destruction they have wrought amongst the masses. The poor and downtrodden who they brainwashed with their ‘hope and change’ message will be the ones who ultimately turn on them and run them out of office.

Photoshopped the pic. Under magnification, although rather pixelated it definitly dosen’t look like patent leather and has the look of some sort of gator hide.

If you have to ask :-)

Haven’t you gotten the memo? Everything is relative. Relative to $5000, $875 is affordable. The Obamas are big leaguers. $875 is about right for Big Leaguers. We poor chumps couldn’t possibly understand what “affordability” is for Big Leaguers.
