During a series of email and telephone exchanges Matthew Degn relayed to www.regimeofterror.com his vast array of experiences working with intelligence issues relating to the current and former situation in Iraq. Among his responsibilities during his years in Iraq Degn worked as a civilian interrogator attached to the U.S. Army in Iraq before working as a Senior Policy/Intelligence Adviser to Deputy General Kamal and other top intelligence officials with the Iraq's Ministry of Interior. Degn, currently working on a book about his experiences in Iraq (personal website here), continues to argue against those that feel there was no link between terrorism and Saddam Hussein's regime based on his involvement with hundreds of interrogations in Iraq and his involvement with many of the Iraqi Intelligence officials with the Ministry of Interior. Degn says that much of the public perception about Saddam Hussein's regime and terrorism are incorrect.

Degn is currently the Director of the Intelligence Studies Program and a professor at American Military University currently a professor at American Military University whose testimony about events in Iraq has been cited by NPR, ABC News, the Washington Post and elsewhere. According to his American Military University bio Degn (pronounced Dayne) also:

There really seems to be nothing “new” here,or much beyond what was in the Army’s institute report: something on the order of “parallel play”, with Iraq footing the bill for terrorist activities.

Some of the translated documents I looked at seemed to indicate funds were being “disguised” as appropriations for “approved” projects : the giveaway being grotesque over-funding.

Excellent article Mark.

I was browsing today "al falojah" terrorist forum, the largest terrorist forum on the internet and they published a document by an Al Qaeda terrorist detailing his travel from Saudi Arabia to Iraq before the war to fight against our US troops. He said that he joined the camp of "Arab Moujahdeen" which was the group of islamic non Iraqi terrorists set by Saddam regime before the war to fight our US troops.

This Saudi terrorist story matches some Saddam regime captured documents where they set up terrorist training camps for what they called "Arab Moujahdeen" to fight our US troops. The translations of these documents were published on Free Republic.

This is why they have to release those guys quickly! - We can’t have any more affirmation of US intelligence floating around.

“When pressed for specifics Degn said that Hussein's regime, like many other Middle Eastern groups, used the “Hawala” system to secretly move money to al Qaeda and made it nearly impossible to “prove” in a legal system that the transfers took place. The “Hawala” system uses multiple layers of middle men couriers to transfer money and leaves no paper trail, making tracing such transactions virtually impossible.” It is this difficulty which the democrat party and their fifth column enemedia chose to exploit, to claim there was no connection, knowing many of the connection would be very tenuous in nature but solid nonetheless. The democrat party leadership are not just unpatriotic, they behaved as enemies of this nation as a means to exploit the war on terrorism and empower their party as ‘the loyal opposition’ ... when they were a lot of things despicable, but loyal they were not!

You leftists are predictable ... *****s like you are bound to try and diminish the truth wherever it exposes your democrat, enemy of America, criminal enterprise. It is not surprising that you and a few other agitprops at FR will try to quash the airing of something which must not be allowed to be forgotten. Spittle some more for us, leftist retread. Tell us how this has been seen before and ignored. Lie to US in the usual Democrat Party style.

What the HELL are you talking about ???

I spent the better part of 2 years looking for a smoking gun,and swapping notes with others who were on the same search.

We found a lot of tantalizing stuff, but never found real proof.

Are you going to say YOU did ?

If so, put or shut up.

the way money was transferred and the additional training camps is pretty new, also that detainees were actually admitting this is somewhat uncovered ground

The proof of OBL and Saddam/Son's relationship is the l990’s reports in the NYT and ABC News on those two hooking up and planning something. (and imploring Clinton to go in)

AND in Newsweak’s special 9/11 edition...an interview with a Dem Senator, Chairman of the Senate Intel committee, talking about the intell they had on Saddam's plans.

Of course, when it was convenient, the Dems/MSM played defense for Saddam, and suddenly decided GWB was the criminal.

Good read. Looks like you made connection with a person that shall continue to yield more evidence of Iraq's involvements with various terrorist groups over the years.
To think the Butcher of Baghdad would not weight all angles as to support for terrorist as not being true is rather ludicrous
