The Washington Post ^ | 10 July 2009 | Carrie Johnson

Posted on 07/10/2009 11:55:55 AM PDT by Erik Latranyi

The Bush White House so strictly controlled access to its warrantless eavesdropping program that only three Justice Department lawyers were aware of the plan, which nearly ignited mass resignations and a constitutional crisis when a wider circle of administration officials began to question its legality, according to a watchdog report released today.

The liberals attacked Bush for not "connnecting the dots" over 9/11 and then attacked Bush for trying to "connect the dots" prior to the next attack.

“that only three Justice Department lawyers were aware of the plan”

Should make it easy to figure out who told the New York Times then.

First line: only three Justice Department lawyers were aware of the plan...

This is why big city Democrat newspapers like the Washington Post are dying (even if not fast enough).

Anyway, the program was supposed to be hush hush in the first place, so why would an entire stable of scumbag lawyers, including loads of rat lawyers, be briefed about it? So the inevitable leaks would be tougher, if not impossible, to identify?

The Bush Justice Department

Many conservatives burrowed within the Department of Justice have long complained that Gonzales (and therefore, Bush) has permitted career government employees and hold-overs from Democratic Administrations to remain in perches of power and thereby water down conservative directives from the top. As one conservative and Federalist Society member in the Justice Department told me: “This is definitely not Ronald Reagan’s Justice Department, I assure you. You have holdovers from Clinton calling the shots in a lot of places here.”

Fine, now lets get back to the Pelosi lies, corruption in congress, the Senate, the White House and getting millions of unemployed citizens back to work.

It’s so transparent. When Obama approval numbers are down it’s time to go after Bush again. Hell, even John Dean is in the news today.

Obama’s numbers are slipping, time for the media to trot out some more Bush articles and whip up the BDS - keep people’s eyes off our government’s support of a dictatorship in Honduras, Obama’s promise to leave our allies without a missile shield, and the pathetic impact of 800Billion in stimulus funds.

It’s all Bush’s fault. Please like me.

and then

three Justice Department lawyers were aware of the plan

Doesn't the story contradict itself in the very first sentence?

At the same time the fact "other administration officials" began to question part of the Commander In Chief's plan to protect us from AlQaida and other very real enemies strongly suggests there were "traitors in the ranks".

So, who are they and when do we get to hang them?

...which nearly ignited mass resignations...

Too bad they didn't follow through. I can't think of any downside to having fewer lawyers in the justice department or anywhere else.
