Bailing Out Illegals
IBD Editorials ^ | July 10, 2009

Illegal Immigration: As California issues IOUs to its citizens, another ballot proposition may be brewing to cut off benefits that are draining the state budget. From education to welfare to crime, the cupboard is bare.

California is a leader in both government debt and the sanctuary city movement. But as its citizens seek shelter from the economic storm, the question has arisen anew whether its non-citizens and the better life they want takes precedence over its citizens and the better life they are entitled to.

In this mother of all recessions, it's getting harder to argue that illegal aliens are here to do the jobs Americans won't do. These days there are fewer jobs Americans won't do. These days there are fewer jobs, period. It's fair to ask whether those who are going to pull the wagon of higher taxes should get to decide who rides inside.

California is now paying out about $80 million a day in unemployment insurance benefits as unemployment hovers around 11.4% and is on pace to top $1.5 billion for the month of July, Employment Development Department officials report. California's Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund ran out of money in January. The state has been borrowing from the federal government since then to make the payments.

These unemployment figures would be worse were it not for Californians leaving the state in droves. Between 2005 and 2007, some 2.14 million of them fled to other states, while only 1.44 million moved to California from other states.

They way underestimate the cost of educating the illegals.
First..you need to add in the kids of illegals that are citizens. The anchor babies. They shouldn’t be here.
Next..the illegals and anchor babies constitute more than half the kids being bused at great expense and those getting extra education help for language and other disabilities. They simply cost about double what a normal kids costs our schools.

Yeah and they typically don’t speak the language.

They pull other kids down.

That issue is one the U.S.S.C. allowed to happen all over.
The ruling was totally misguided. The U.S. is constantly being exploited. yes, we are a generous and compassionate country. Now we are being used and abused. People are taking advantage of us and coming here for all the wrong reasons - ILLEGALLY.

Prop 187 was passed by the citizens of California prohibiting the use of tax dollars to support illegal aliens. The 9th Circus slapped it down saying that it was in violation of the equal protection clause.

One has to really wonder how many Islamic and communist sleepers, moles and agents are sneaking in along with the regular collections of illegal aliens seeking jobs.

Maybe the time has come to RENOUNCE our US citizenship, so we too would have full illegal rights, and thus be on a level playing field with THEM.

WRONG!

ENFORCE EXISITNG ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT LAWS.

STOP, this law after NEW law business.

ENFORCE the laws on the books now.

NO health care, no education or other government hand outs be given to ILLEGALS. Make it you MUST have provable citizenship for school, education, housing and earning a living here. Use fingerprints, retina scan or social security numbers - or all three. Get tough on our borders and STOP them.

At this point, I don't care if they plant mine fields on our border to keep ILLEGALS OUT.

We already have LAWS that make ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION -

ILLEGAL!

For those that sneak in, DEPORT THEM at the EXPENSE of the ILLEGAL. Take away their assets and deduct that from the cost of DEPORTING them. Send the whole FAMILY BACK.

STOP the “anchor babies” by NOT giving them citizenship. Other countries have stopped that because these laws are ABUSED.

WAKE UP!

I can think of loads of Republicans who are willing to spend California into bankruptcy before they would risk “alienatating the hispanic vote’ by deporting illegals or cutting them off from government benefits.

It wasn’t just the hard left and the Aztlan racists fighting against Prop 187, it was also elites in the Republican party. One used to call the Minutemen “vigilantes” and spouted insulting nonsense like “jobs Americans won’t do”.

I’ll bet there are 2.7 million illegals in LA County alone.

No, one judge alone, Marianne Pfaelzer, struck down Prop 187. She sat on her decision for three years, waiting for Pete Wilson’s term to expire. When Gray Davis became Governor she released her decision, and surprise, surprise, Gray Davis decided not to appeal it. Neither the 9th Circuit nor any other appeals court has ever had the chance to review the legality of Pfaelzer’s decision. So one person alone found a way to overrule the voters of California. So much for democracy.

Arnold could appeal her decision anytime he wants to. But being a loyal open borders GOP stooge he won’t do it.
