Cats Do Control Humans, Study Finds

If you've ever wondered who's in control, you or your cat, a new study points to the obvious. It's your cat.

Household cats exercise this control with a certain type of urgent-sounding, high-pitched meow, according to the findings.

This meow is actually a purr mixed with a high-pitched cry. While people usually think of cat purring as a sign of happiness, some cats make this purr-cry sound when they want to be fed. The study showed that humans find these mixed calls annoying and difficult to ignore.

"The embedding of a cry within a call that we normally associate with contentment is quite a subtle means of eliciting a response," said Karen McComb of the University of Sussex. "Solicitation purring is probably more acceptable to humans than overt meowing, which is likely to get cats ejected from the bedroom."

How does sitting on the sleeping owner staff's head fit into the master control plan?

You want to try "difficult to ignore", try a Siamese cat.

They need not resort to such petty stratagems as "mixed meows". They get what they want, or they scream the house down.

Obviously if you were sleeping you weren’t hearing the cry/call for food. Sitting in your head is the feline equivalent of a repeated poke in the arm.

Dogs think they’re human.
Cats think they’re gods.

I would agree....when we bought our home we also bought one of the neighborhood cats, a beautiful white cat who answers to the name kitty.....so for the first time in my life I bought cat food.....so as soon as she comes around or she meows till I step outside.....she gets fed.....

My husband is not a big fan of cats (allergies) but he is fond of this one.....he cannot get over how clean she keeps that white coat of hers so clean....

I also found out she gets fed by our neighbors one street over....she is very sweet and loves a good head scratch.....

That’s how they put the parasites into their brains that
allow them control.

A sad sight, cat puppets.

Anyone who is owned by a cat knows the human does not control anything.
Cats were once worshiped as gods and they will never ever let you forget it.

Hahahah, they ALL answer to that name.
It’s the name of the parasite they put into your brain.

If Obama will give me a 10 million dollar research grant I will study the proposition for this year, and after the grants for next year I will give report on it.

I have a cat who loves this one chair in my living room. If I’m sitting in that chair and he wants it, he will walk all over me from one arm to the other repeatedly until I inally relinquish the chair to him. He doesn’t need to meow.

I had one cat who would try to bamboozle visitors into feeding her. She would just sit, bat her eyes at the visitor and put on this sad face like she hadn’t been fed in weeks. I always said that if they gave out Academy Awards to cats, she would win hands down.

We just got a part-Siamese kitten last week (I think it's a "ragdoll"). He's already in charge of things.
