Michigan unemployment Rate Soars to 15.1%
WLNS ^ | 07/15/09 | Various

Posted on 07/15/2009 12:09:23 PM PDT by Kieri

Michigan's unemployment rate for June of 2009 jumped to 15.2%. That's a 1.1% increase over the prior month.

Rates usually climb or fall by a few tenths of a percent. It's rare to see such a substantial increase or decrease.

But experts say the struggling economy combined with the ailing auto market means Michigan has been hit harder than other states.

We'll have much more on the numbers and what it means for Michigan tonight on 6 News at 5 and 6.

Why would you post a picture of Dresden at the end of WW II on a thread about Michigan?

There’s definitely some growing anger toward democrats in Michigan. Just yesterday my former conservative congressman announced that he will run again so I’m thinking he must see the same thing I’m seeing and probably some things I’m not.

Wahlberg? That’s good.

If we could just bulldoze Detroit...all those empty lots wouldn’t be able to vote. ;)

Jackson county here. The 7th district where we traditionally go republican till the GOP tosses our conservative congressman overboard and leaves him to lose by a whopping 2%. (Can’t blame that on the democrats) Fortunately he’s announced he will run again.

Given the point of similarity between our respective screen names, I know you'll grasp the full enormity of what I'm saying when I tell you: those three MI leftists I mentioned...?

They'd turn up their collective noses at voting for Gregoire, if they lived here.

They'd all regard her, scornfully, as "a right-wing reactionary."

My hand to God. ;)

You aren’t a loon, you are like me. We have to put up with the loons. I’m in SE MI and I talk with, no argue with the loons on a daily basis. Just last night I had a run in with a loon that is still blaming Bush. Their stupidity is endless.

Check out this thread about Detroit vote fraud I dug up earlier today. It’s about the 04 election.

“I heard last night, on one of the talk/discussion shows (on FOX) that, even with the high unemployment rate, Obama still has a high approval rate of over 60%.”
+++++++++++++++

Not true. Poll aggregators like RCP have him at 56.5 to 37 and that includes many polls of ‘adults.’
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/president_obama_job_approval-1044.html

The better polls like Rasmussen, that poll likely voters, show Obama’s strong favorables in negative - but quite a bit and the trend is downward.
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/obama_approval_index_history

In another aggregator even the CBS poll showed drops of 6% and disapproves rising 6%:

Look at the trends...all downward drafts for dear leader.

My sympathies. Some of the most unusual people voted for the Guy in the White House, like old people with money, who thought he would work some sort of miracle for society.

Aside from my family I don't talk politics with anyone from the state. 99% of those I speak with are of like-mind. Work in Ohio, church in Ohio, shop in Ohio, which, thank the Lord, is probably why I'm still working...for now.

Michigan’s unemployment rate is headed for 20%.

It is probably over 20% now.

To allow them to keep their job I will not name names nor relations but I know someone in the Michigan unemployment office and they say (anecdotal I know, but still...)about 70% of their calls are from people falling off the end of their benefits and thus are immediately removed from the jobless rolls.

That skews the numbers really bad.

I wish they still had the U-Haul index. I expect the unemployment rate in Michigan would be substantially higher if people who lost jobs and U-hauled ass out were included.

I’m sure glad we saved the auto industry. Imagine what the unemployment figure would have been had Obama not bailed out GM and Chrysler? But don’t worry, as soon as the new cars come out Michigan will be back to normal. /s

At least those from the auto industry/retired from weren’t living off of welfare for 20-30 years. They paid taxes, still pay taxes, will keep paying taxes and they are paying for the bailout, too.

If the reactions to this Mlive blog are any indication, the love fest with Obozo is over.

Where would you send Obama if he vacationed in Michigan?

Some of the answers are priceless.

What??! I’m waiting with that one lady for my crummy tank of gas...

Hmmmmm ... thanks for the memory jog...
Peggy Joseph, a voter in Sarasota, Fla., who exulted earlier this week at a Barack Obama rally that this was "the most memorable time of my life."

Why? As she told a Florida reporter on a YouTube video that has been viewed by hundreds of thousands:

"Because I never thought this day would ever happen. I won't have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage. You know. If I help [Obama], he's gonna help me."

stimulus = stealfromus
