NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Michigan became the first state in 25 years to suffer an unemployment rate exceeding 15%, according to a report released Friday by the government.

The state's unemployment rate rose to 15.2% in June. It was the highest of any state since March 1984, when West Virginia's unemployment rate exceeded 15%.

Friday's report from the U.S. Labor Department also showed that unemployment topped 10% in 14 other states and the District of Columbia.

Over the month, jobless rates increased in 38 states and the District of Columbia. Unemployment rates decreased in 5 states and 7 states had no rate change.

To the Good people of Michigan who have to suffer because all of the leftist loons up there, you have my sympathy.

To be totally honest the "Good" people of Michigan vote for these clowns so let them suffer the consequences. Of course there are the 40% who actually undeerstand political economy and they have my sympathy.

I wouldn’t tell them this if they are too dumb to find out for themselves.

"The White House agenda won't be impeded by the economy," top Obama advisor, Larry Summers this morning.

If the Donkeys do not suffer a big defeat in the 2010 mid-term election I will be on the verge of despair.

But you have to PAY taxes to take advantage of it I suppose. I haven’t looked at it closely.

Well then it sounds like it will be up to We the People to generate solutions since the WH is bound and determined to be the problem.....

As long as the unemployment rate stays below the total number of Lions’ losses in a year, they still have hope for recovery.

They're going to have to count exhibition losses next season if they still want hope.

Unfortunately, the state GOP here is not well organized. Perhaps Rep. Pete Hoekstra can fit the bill for gov. as he is running, but it's a thin bench. Nugent is a great rocker but I don't want him anywhere near the capital. We are enough of a laughing stock.

I believe Michigan measures this against the “Lions Index” (LI). As long as the unemployment rate stays below the total number of Lions’ losses in a year

LOL!
....The Cincinnati (Bunglers-Football), are in worse shape.
....and now w/ "Hope & Change" (economics)
linked to the success of their "beloved" Bengals.

OH! BOY!

The real rate is probably closer to 20% in MI. Other states are catching up.

Hope & Change.

Michigan socialists are resurrecting the Misery Index with unemployment numbers alone. Jhimmi the Dhimmi would be proud.

“Over the month, jobless rates increased in 38 states and the District of Columbia. Unemployment rates decreased in 5 states and 7 states had no rate change.”

If this is true then I think we can expect the federal rate to be 10% when July numbers come out.

Wish I could go with you.

Never been, but Plano Texas has the lowest total tax rates for business and the highest growth rate, or so I am told....

Dear Michigan people,

Get the hell out of there! I mean if you have a job cool and all; you can stay. But the rest of you need to freakin’ wake up and leave! Go somewhere where there is work or at least where you can compete with the day laborers.

Are you stupid? Do you think it will just be different tommorrow. Well it won’t! So shut up and get moving.

Pack your crap or better yet just leave that ratty stuff and hit the road. They have resale shops all over the country and garage sales too. I mean a lot of good all that old junk has done for you so far anyway.

I hope this helped you as you ponder your next move.

Happy Returns,
Gulfbreeze

As General Motors goes so goes Michigan and everywhere else until we become a producing country again. The ‘shop only’ economy we developed is a bi-partisan failure and there is no one on the horizon to turn it around. God Bless the USA, please.
