Hubby and I are self employed, and have had no work for 3 weeks. If it weren’t just the two of us and I had an obama fan as an employee, they would have been let go anyway. I feed my family first!

My guess is that the government provider will mis-price its policies on the low side, pushing employers to dump private sector insurance for the taxpayer-subsidized alternative. Such a system will further distort health care pricing and, ultimately, make a bad situation intolerable.

I have seen this in some really cutthroat bidding wars for service contracts when oil prices implode.

Company A (who has more assets) will grossly underbid company B to squeeze them out of the market. Eventually, Company B has to cut their prices to find work, and either survives working at a loss longer than Comapny A, or the owner(s) sell the company.

In the end, there are fewer service providers, and the rates go back up with less competition.

The Government has a bottomless war chest (our money, or rather, our indebtedness), and can outlast any private entity, plus, they control regulatory and tax expenses for the private entities.

This is not a level playing field.

This is not competition between two corporate entities, because one entity makes all the rules.

Printed it for dad and he questions the constitutionality of several points. Said a few constitutional lawyers need to look over it.

Are they using this issue to attack the constitution too?

Today, the year is 1984. Next year, it will be 1984. Last year, it was 1984.

“Are they using this issue to attack the constitution too?”

Of course. This bill, if passed, will be in the courts in a matter of hours. Then the American people can pay for that as well. (eye roll)

This whole bill is unconstitutional!

but why is he not more visible

Frankly, he's usually late when he DOES make a comment; he tends to plant his foot firmly in his mouth when he speaks out; and he mostly just does more damage to Republicans when he says anything than just letting the Republican Congresscritters try to handle the issue. That's where I have my disagreement with the GOP - the Congresscritters who SHOULD be screaming about Obama's DeathCare are mostly silent on the issue. Why aren't THEY congregating on the Capitol steps to have a press conference about their opposition to DeathCare???

“THIS IS WAR!”

I posted this yesterday on PJ’s DU Funnies thread and I mean every word of it:

So, when this “health care for all” crap passes, right now the legislation states that it will be illegal to sell private policies over the date of passage. It also says that HSA’s will no longer be allowed. That means that my current policy will no longer be allowed and neither I nor my employer will be allowed to privately purchase an alternative.

I will not accept the “public option” that I will be dictated to join. I will not give the government control over my physical body. I will not pay their fines, I will not surrender to the impending warrant for my arrest. When they knock on my door, I will not answer. When they kick it in, I will make the news.

How’s that for unification, dummies? You loons are currently legislating my death. I will chose the terms and I will bring as many of you along as possible!

(Not directed at you hattend.)

While I am totally against this healthcare plan I think the twitter person misread this one:

Pg 29 lines 4-16 in the HC bill - YOUR HEALTHCARE IS RATIONED!!!

They are talking about the limitation on the amount of cost sharing money paid by an individual ($5,000) and a family ($10,000) in a given year. At least as far as I can tell that is what they are talking about in that area of the healthcare bill.

(2) ANNUAL LIMITATION.—
4 (A) ANNUAL LIMITATION.—The cost-shar
5 ing incurred under the essential benefits pack
6 age with respect to an individual (or family) for
7 a year does not exceed the applicable level spec
8 ified in subparagraph (B).

9 (B) APPLICABLE LEVEL.—The applicable
10 level specified in this subparagraph for Y1 is
11 $5,000 for an individual and $10,000 for a
12 family. Such levels shall be increased (rounded
13 to the nearest $100) for each subsequent year
14 by the annual percentage increase in the Con
15 sumer Price Index (United States city average)
16 applicable to such year.
