Conservative kiosk not allowed at mall

CONCORD, N.C. -- “Impeach Obama. “

“Al Qaeda’s favorite days: 9/11/01 and 11/04/08.”

“Work Harder. Obama needs the money.”

The bumper stickers and posters sold at “Free Market Warrior” at Concord Mills are meant to be “biting,” the kiosk’s owner Loren Spivack said.

At least one passer-by found them racist and bigoted, and took time to tell the mall in a letter and a letter to the editor of the Charlotte Observer.

Whatever your opinion, the fact is this: At the end of July, “Free Market Warrior” will not be allowed at Concord Mills Mall. The kiosk chain’s owner shared e-mail correspondence with Newschannel 36 that explains that the mall management has decided that the items sold are not “neutral” enough. The lease will be allowed to expire July 31, 2009 without an option to renew.

Spivack, who first leased the space this spring, says the decision came as a shock to him. He says mall management seemed pleased with the kiosk just a few weeks ago.

“Nobody in that mall is selling anything from a conservative perspective. Plenty of people are selling things with a liberal perspective, with a pro-Obama perspective,” he said. “Given that we are in America and not North Korea, we probably should have some stuff on the other side.”....more

I believe the parent company of this mall is already in Bankruptcy. It would suck if they suffered a precipitous drop in revenue during a sensitive time like reorganizing.

They should also write letters to the mall owners proclaiming the pro-Obama stuff to be racist and offensive. Then demand the stuff be removed...

Charlotte where Concord Mills is located is slowly become a liberal stronghold.

As a escapee from the liberal northeast, I can honestly say it’s the progressive democrats from the northern urban areas starting this crap.

Southern states should put up mini-Ellis island check-in points all along the Mason-Dixon line and screen for liberals attempting to emigrate.
These urban liberal northerners will lay waste to your states as they did to mine.

The owner of the mall group, Mel Simon, has been a generous contributor to Democratic causes and politicians, including Barack Obama. Spivack thinks the decision about his lease is political.

All we need to know.

I added some keywords for ya there, NMEwithin. You hadn’t added any. I searched for this article and couldn’t find a thing. I then came across it purely by accident! :~)

He says mall management seemed pleased with the kiosk just a few weeks ago.

Of course they were! In this day and age where malls have a hard time keeping store tenants let alone kiosk tenants, having any law-abiding tenant would be considered a plus.

If the mall management is so cowardly as to cave to one letter writer, the locals should start writing letters about the crap sold to promote the Dear Leader.

So any criticism of the One is called racist! And it works! Whenever the left needs a little more White Guilt, it just has to say “racist” a few times.

Perhaps we should write letters to all the merchants in the mall telling them why we will NOT BE IN THERE BUYING.

Malls are there to put feet on the shopping floor.

If anything this is a reason to FIND ANOTHER MALL.

Perhaps the owners should take note of that when lease renewals arrise.

You know.....

I do my XMas shopping at that mall, usually around the end of the summer. It's a fun trip for Mrs WBill and I.

I think we'll go elsewhere this year. And, I'll drop a note to the mall's mgmt mentioning why. I'm sure that there's a "contact us" on their website.

It's nice to actually be able to participate in a boycott. Usually, I don't use the "boycotted" product, or don't really give a rip one way or the other.

My e-mail to the local Simon Properties mall in New Hampshire:

I completely understand that it is Mall management's right to decide which businesses to allow and which to not allow, but it's also the public's right to choose to not frequent your businesses based upon those decisions.

Simon Properties recently banned a small business at one of their Concord, NC, malls because the goods they were selling did not suit the political beliefs of the management of Simon Properties (Mel Simon).

I am referring to this story:

http://www.wcnc.com/news/topstories/stories/wcnc-072109-mrn-freemarketwarrior.63b5bce2.html

I will actively seek out properties not managed by Simon and I will also tell all of my friends & relatives and ask them to do the same.

I do this with deep regret because, lately, the parking situation has been very favorable due to the lack of shoppers, but now there will be one additional open parking space.

How's that Hope & Change working for you?

Given that the Mason-Dixon line is the S border of PA and the N border of MD, it would be fairly difficult for North Carolinians to set up checkpoints there.

Whoa, I see the problem. From the link:

““Free Market Warrior,” a kiosk located adjacent to Bass Pro Shops, specializes in memorabilia embellished with pro-confederacy statements as well as those opposing both the government and President Obama.

We all know how libtards react to anything Confederate. It's not the "anti-Obama" stuff.
