Health care reform central to economic recovery

President Obama said Wednesday that health care reform is "central" to successfully rebuilding the U.S. economy after the current economic crisis...

Blah, blah, blah...

A couple intersting quotes and notes:

"Even as we rescue this economy from a full-blown crisis, we must rebuild it stronger than before..."

Hey rocket scientist - why not start with rebuilding it to to a level equivalent to where it was before the recession. Once that is completed and we have money pouring out of our ears then we can evaluate the benefits of shoving a trillion dollars down a government destined rat hole.

Given the DC Crew's ability to manage money - what in the world would possess even a somewhat intelligent person to trust them to even be remotely associated with healthcare...

Spiraling health care costs are bankrupting Americans, causing 14,000 people to lose their health insurance coverage every day, and also will bankrupt the nation if allowed to continue, Obama said. I don't have stats to discuss the 14,000 / day number, but smell something stinky. But the other half of the sentence - bankrupt the nation - a pure and even stinkier piece 'o crap. The only way that health care costs can bankrupt the nation is if the government pays for it. If it doesn't, health care costs may be a factor in bankrupting a family, or a business, but unless the government takes responibility for those costs there is no way such costs can bankrupt our national balance sheet.

And if people and private business are allowed to work within a competitive health care industry - it won't bankrupt a significant fraction of them anyway.

"Let me be clear: If we do not control these costs, we will not be able to control our deficit...

Yes we can - cut off government involvement in the issue. That would take the costs off the governments balance sheet. Doing so would reduce it's deficit.

I'm not even an accountant - nor do I play one on television.

I like the fact that the following:

He also said his program would not add to the deficit over the next decade, addressing concerns from Republican opponents and fiscally conservative Democrats over the costs of the program.

Is followed in a seperate paragraph by:

"Already, we have estimated that two-thirds of the cost of reform can be paid for by reallocating money that is simply being wasted in federal health care programs...

While I am not a jounalist, or investigative reporter, nor do I play one on TV, my internal BS meter asked two questions. First question where does the 33% funding for the costs not figured out yet come from that won't add to the deficit or require a tax increase that fiscally conservative Democrats might not like?

Again - blah, blah, blah...

You can’t build (or rebuild) an economy on health care — certainly not the largest economy on the planet. The idea is absurd.

A bunch of pencil-necked, college flunkies running the U.S. government! Hey America! How’s that “hope and change” thing working out?! This crap is getting pretty damn “historical”!

Health care reform central to economic recovery

Freedom with the Constitution for support is what is central to economic recovery via economic freedom.

This empty suit is mismatched with his job as POTUS.

Not entirely, I mean if we do reform health care, this will lower costs and businesses can lower prices, blah blah blah. But his plan won’t do this, and on that point I agree with you.

If the plan fails, after reading this, I expect to see allocation for federal health care programs to be cut by 2/3.
